Wow, where do I begin. Thank you to EVERYONE who helped me through this process of my mom's passing. It was unexpected so I was a wreck. Right from notice and getting mum, to all final decisions, they walked me through or took the reigns and got things done. Even picked me up and dropped me off when I was stranded. My mom's blessing was so well done over and above what I could've imagined. Travis is an Angel, your mom is so proud of you. Thank you for the tribute DVD, Nathan and Nick. Trish, you are a blessing. One of my dearest friends passed away, and I was thrust into the planning of her celebration of life along with her husband and family. I was repeatedly in awe of the service Travis provided. From jumping on board with our desire to honour Jenn with her unique personality and love of all things snow and Christmas, to saying up the night before the service to make paper snowflakes to ensure one of our wishes was taken care of, to finding me a quiet spot to have my cry after the service - I felt like her knew Jenn himself. He even asked his staff to bring their own Christmas trees in for our tree-strewn service. Her favourite colour was purple, so even the pen he provided for writing on our snowflakes was, of course, purple. No detail was missed, and after it was all said and done, I felt like I'd actually gained a friend. I never anticipated being the planner, but with Travis as our Funeral Director, our treasured Jenn received the best send-off imaginable. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to help people through their grieving process day in and day out, but I can tell you that Travis is exceptional at it.

With everything happening so quickly, each day brought a new memory that led to a new request. We joked that Travis might stop taking our calls but he never did and despite many last minute additions, everything was absolutely perfect. The passing of a loved one is devastating and exhausting and there are so many questions that you have after the funeral. They answered all of them in one session. I would like to thank Pat and the rest of the team at Cornerstone for all the help and compassion they showed us when planning our son’s funeral. My son was 38 years old, and Pat suggested a Cabaret style as our son did not want a traditional one. This was the best, we had so many of our family and friends tell us that it was so, comforting and homey, and my son had he been there would have been so, impressed. Thank you again, I have told everyone that is the way we want ours. The help they have been giving me with all the after a loved one passes is again great. I still ask Pat on occasion for copies and help and he is more than willing to lend a hand. Everyone that works at Cornerstone are all very kind and thoughtful people, we were blessed to have them all to help us through our painful dealing in our life. Travis and the staff at Cornerstone helped us navigate through the many processes and tasks that accompany death with patience and kindness. They blew our expectations for care and service out of the water! The Cornerstone team helped up pull together at 750 person 'FUNeral' in six days. It was a real production - we held it at a hotel. There was a fully decorated stage, a multitude of speakers, food, wine, plus audio and video presentations. I was so grateful for the outstanding care that the Cornerstone team offered our families and friends. In my view, they embody many of the traits required for outstanding service. Here are a few examples. 1) Responsiveness: It didn't matter the time of day or night. The Cornerstone team was there when we needed information or advice. Travis even came to one of the family homes on a Saturday night to help us work out FUNeral details. The timelines were tight for the FUNeral but they never pestered or pressured. They helped us work through the maze of decisions constructively by providing the information we needed to move ahead. 2) Emotional intelligence: Travis knew when to pass the tissue and when to tell a joke. He used his empathy and communication skills to help family members make decisions and consider different points of view. 3) Creativity: The Cornerstone team was never short on ideas for the FUNeral. They contributed fantastic design ideas for the stage, they proposed a cool way to display my brother-in-law's cherished vehicles at the FUNeral and they worked technical magic on our audio and video presentations. I believe the Cornerstone team deserves recognition for the exceptional service that they offer families who are vulnerable and grieving.
