Janice was born and raised in Coaldale, AB and has lived her life in the southern Alberta area. She met her husband John, while they were both working for Sunrise Ranch, now known as Rehoboth, in Coaldale. They were house parents at the group home onsite and this is where Janice’s passion for helping people began.
After spending many years on farms in southern Alberta, they settled in Taber where Janice worked 23 years for the Horizon School Division. She was also the secretary of ACE Place Outreach School for 15 years and during that time, served on many committees dedicated to help troubled youth in Taber. As well, she volunteered for Taber Victim Services.
Janice was a caregiver for her father for 30 years and on his passing, experienced first-hand the compassion and understanding from the staff at Cornerstone. This, along with the help and guidance Janice and her family received, eventually fueled a strong desire to work with grieving families. She has been a proud part-time employee at Cornerstone for the past 10 years.
Janice is active in her church where she has served in music, teaching Sunday school and helped to organize many women’s activities. She is currently a volunteer at Sunny South Lodge in Coaldale, where she had previously worked as a receptionist for five years, helping seniors with the exercise program. Janice also volunteers with seniors in the Dementia Unit at the Coaldale Health Centre.
She enjoys spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren and is especially passionate about creating meals for family and friends.
