PETER MICHAEL GERARDES ZMURCHYK, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Deone Zmurchyk, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at the age of 73 years, with the love of his life by his side.
PETER MICHAEL GERARDES ZMURCHYK, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Deone Zmurchyk, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at the age of 73 years, with the love of his life by his side.
Besides his loving wife, Deone, Peter is survived by his son John (Roanna) Zmurchyk; and grandsons: Peter (Colby), Brody (Bradi), Caleb (Ayla), John (Karli), Dylan, and Corby (A.K.A Rooster). He was also survived by his brother Raymond and mother-in-law Mildred Beck.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Jennifer; parents, Pete and Frances; and father-in-law Vern Beck.
Peter was born in Lethbridge in 1950. After spending his childhood and early adulthood helping his dad on the dairy farm west of Lethbridge, he spent a short time driving truck, then he settled into a long career at ADRI (now CFIA), where he would tend to all the farm work at the Research facility in the river bottom. He spent his retirement years in a rather large garden, where he would become well known for his quality produce; he was most proud of his beautiful garlic.
A Visitation will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 - 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., with a short service at 12:00 Noon.
Flowers are gratefully accepted. In memory of Peter, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (heartandstroke.ca)

Raymond & Family, So sorry for the loss of your brother Pete. Thinking back to when we were all kids, growing up together, and our neighbor visits at your mom and dad's original home (but also sometimes in the milk barn) on the Zmurchyk homestead. I remember my mom telling me how happy your parents were when Pete got a baby brother and when each son continued to farm the land that has been in your family for over a century. Hoping you will have many cherished memories. Take care Raymond.
Deone & Family. On behalf of the Ponjavic families, we are so sorry to hear of Pete's passing. I am sure that Pete, along with grandparents Peter & Francis Zmurchyk, take great comfort in knowing that John is carrying on the legacy of the Zmurchyk farm. I will miss seeing him in his truck out at the farm. Do take care.

Deone, John and Family. We are saddened to hear of the sudden passing of your husband, father, grandfather and friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time in your lives. Peter was a great neighbour, and Paul always enjoyed a chin wag with him over the back fence. May you all, experience Gods comforting and loving arms around you during these trying times.
