Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunty and great aunt, MARGARET ROSE YELLOW FACE (nee Small Legs), "Otter Woman" beloved wife of the late Delbert Yellow Face, left to the Creator on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the age of 72 years.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Lana Yellow Face and Nora Born With A Tooth from Oak Harbor, Wash.; her son Kesley (Blair) Small Legs; grandsons, Talon, Donovan and Jace Vanhazendonk; sister Marie (Charles) Swanson; sister-in-law, Joan Small Legs, as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She is also remembered by her adopted brothers, Morris (Betty) Little Wolf, Jim Strikes With A Gun; in-laws, Willard (Linda) Yellow Face, Mervyn (Virginia) Yellow Face, Wallace Yellow Face, Maynard (Debbie) Yellow Face and Madeline Yellow Face as well as extended relatives from many different Nations.
Along with her husband, Margaret was predeceased by her infant son, Delbert Gordon; her parents, Mary One Owl and Jim Small Legs; brothers Robert, Art, Nelson, Jimmy, Dave, Douglas, and Andrew; sister Louise Small Legs; Aunt Martha (Fred) Small Legs; adopted brothers Joe (Lillian) Roan, Floyd (Marjorie) Many Fingers; in-laws, Harvey (Cecilanna Bella), Allen Yellow Face, Clarence (Alfreda) Knolton, Annabell (John) McDonald and Bernie (Bunny) Sommerfeldt as well as adopted sister, Marg Stieb.
Margaret was born October 14, 1944 in Brocket, AB. She attended Sacred Heart Residential School and St. Michael's Residential School. Margaret worked with West Coast Amusements, at the Buffalo Jump Interpretive Centre, as a shuttle bus driver and at the El Rancho Hotel in Lethbridge. She enjoyed crafting and worked at Peigan Crafts and at Alberta Indian Art Crafts. Margaret upgraded her education in Life Skills and loved her time as a foster parent in Hobbema, AB.
Margaret's last request was immediate cremation with a Private Family Burial at the Small Legs family plot.
A Farewell Meal for family and friends will be held at the Brocket Community Hall on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 4:00 P.M.
