He is survived by his son Peter (Susan) and their children Lily, Simon, and Sophia of Newberg, OR.; his son Kenny (Doug Hermanutz) of Vancouver, B.C., and his daughter Darlene of Lethbridge, AB. He is also survived by his siblings; Yin, Wong May of Miami, FL.; Chan, Wong Mei-she of Burnaby, B.C.; Seto, Wong May-hung of Los Angeles, CA.; Wong, Oak-sun of San Francisco, CA., and Wong, William Tuk-chiu of Brighton, MA., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents, Wong, Tat Sau and Chow, Qin.

Danny was born September 13, 1933 in Chungwoola Village in Canton, China. At the age of 16, with 5 dollars in hand, Danny immigrated to Canada in 1950 under the assumed name of Len Yee, pretending to be the son of a businessman in Calgary. He then moved to Lethbridge and worked at the Shangri-La Caf? as a busboy. He worked there for about 2 years receiving free room and board. He moved to Banff and worked at the Dominion Restaurant for 9 years where he learned the restaurant business. In 1961, he moved back to Lethbridge and worked at the Shanghai Chop Suey. In 1965, he married Diane and started a family a year later. Danny’s hard work and long hours at Shanghai supported his young family, as well as his family back in Hong Kong. Danny eventually became a business partner in Shanghai and owned the building. He retired from the business in 1998. Danny enjoyed his sports. He played basketball in his youth for an all-Chinese team in Lethbridge. He was a long time season ticket holder of the Lethbridge Broncos and followed all sports. He was especially passionate about the Edmonton Oilers, Edmonton Eskimos, and Toronto Blue Jays.

In retirement, he did canvassing for many non-profit organizations including the Canadian Diabetes Association and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. His greatest joys were welcoming and meeting people in the restaurant and making his customers laugh. Later on he enjoyed watching his 3 grandchildren grow up and make him laugh.
