WILLIAMS JOAN ALBERTA (née King) February 23rd, 1920 to September 7th, 2010

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother JOAN / Nan at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday September 7th. Joan was predeceased by her husband Jack of 54 years on February 9th, 1998.

She is survived by her two sons Ross (Deb) and Rick, her four granddaughters; Bonnie (Kevin) James, Shannon (Ian) Moors, Kelley, Keri, great-grandson Aiden James, brother Jack (Ellen) King, sister-law Helen Williams and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joan was born and raised in Lethbridge to parents John and May King and during her working life she made numerous friends through her two employers Bonnydale Foods and Draffin’s Pharmacy.

She lived in her family home to the age of 88 where she spent countless hours in her garden which was immaculate and always full of color.

In 2008 she moved to the Blue Sky Lodge where she met a whole new set of friends. She was known for her caring smile and her enjoyment of participating in all the activities offered at the lodge.

Mom will always remembered for her great love and devotion to her family, whether it be camping and fishing with them on weekends and holidays, or cooking special meals to celebrate various family events.

Mom celebrated her 90th birthday on February 23rd, 2010 at an Open House Tea put on by her granddaughters Bonnie and Shannon.

Our Family would like to send our deepest thanks to the wonderful staff at the Blue Sky Lodge and to the nursing staff on 4C for the care they provided mom in her final days.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
