JEAN M. WILKINS, of Lethbridge, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away after a short illness at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, July 28, 2017 at the age of 90 years.
She was very much loved and will be sadly missed by her daughter, Joyce Wilkins (Blake Eves), daughter-in-law Sandy Wilkins and her two grandsons, Nicholas and Mitchell Ferenz.
She was predeceased by her husband Edward "Ted" Wilkins (Jan 1, 2001) and her son Bruce Wilkins (June 12, 2017).
Jean was born in Edmonton on May 30, 1927. She moved to Calgary in her early 20's where she met Ted, the love of her life. They were married in 1950 raised two beautiful children, Bruce and Joyce. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2000, just prior to Ted's passing.
Jean worked several years at the Woolworth store in Lethbridge but preferred her role as wife and mom. Her passion for curling and golf landed her many trophies and awards. In her spare time, she took great pride in keeping her yard and garden meticulous. After their retirement, Jean and Ted spent many winters in Palm Springs, golfing and relaxing by the pool.
Jean had an amazing relationship with her two grandsons. She graciously shuffled them back and forth to school and provided special time after school. The boys were always happy when summer rolled around and they got to spend their entire days with Nanny. All of their friends called her "Nanny Jean".
Jean moved to 'The Gardens' retirement living three years ago and enjoyed many wonderful friendships. She had a great attitude, a smile on her face, and always said she was good as long as she could put one foot in front of the other.
Her family, friends and her dog Penny will miss her dearly.
A Celebration of Jean's Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Wednesday, August 2nd, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Glenda Wert officiating.
