A lot of hearts were broken on Saturday, June 3, 2023. KYLE MORRIS WHITE QUILLS passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the Chinook Regional Hospital at the tender age of 32 years old.
Kyle was born on July 5, 1990 to his loving mother Andrienne White Quills at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital and later, raised by his father Horton Weasel Fat. Kyle leaves behind his children: Hunter, Jaxx, and Daniels; his friend Bernadette; his only and loving sister Brooke; brothers, Jason and Steve W.F.; nephews: Bentley, Beau, Colten, Matthew, Joeseph, Ruger and Elijah; nieces: Bevin, Shiloh, Grayce-Roze, Keana, Nevaeh, Seriah and Willow; grandma Donna W. Q.; aunties: Chantal (Trace) W.F., Leslee (JR) W.Q., Krystal S.F., Debbie W.F. and Roxanne (Lionel) W.H.; great-aunties: Jennifer W.H., Karen W.W., and Charlotte (Casey) W.Q.;
great-uncles Ian W.W., and Desmond (Robin) W.Q.; cousins who he took in like siblings during his walk of life: Brittany W.Q., Nikita (Norman) W.Q., Michelle W.F., Sherise W.Q., Raven S.F., Anna Beth B.W., CJ W.Q., Darion B.W. and Dylan H.R.; great-great-aunts: Bernadette Y.P., Deloris G., Sadie M.F. and Thersa W.W.; great-great-uncles Vincent W.Q. and Lucius (Pam) W.W.
Kyle was born unique in our family, being the first great-grandson, the first grandson, and the first son. Not only that, but his physical appearance of him being blond and blue eyed increased the favorable relationships that his family wanted with him. Kyle grew up surrounded by family almost immediately. He would often spend time visiting his numerous relatives, which enabled him to create special bonds with his aunts, uncles and cousins. His grandpa Morris and uncle Leonard took a special interest in Kyle. The two relationships between his grandpa and uncle became so meaningful, Kyle was almost inseparable from the two. Grandpa Morris was Kyle's person. Morris showed Kyle how to be kind, caring, and humble; these are the main characteristics Kyle continued to display throughout his life. Kyle always appreciated grandpa Morris for teaching him how to be a loving and caring man, especially towards family. Because of grandpa Morris, Kyle was a very selfless man and would go out of his way for anyone, especially his grandma Donna, his mom Andrienne, and his sister Brooke. Kyle got his mischievous and humorous ways from his uncle Leonard. Uncle Leonard showed Kyle how to be strong, confident, and "not to give a shit" attitude. Kyle carried these specific traits with him everywhere he went. He used them particularly while playing hockey which is why Kyle may have been considered a remarkable hockey player.
His dad Horton played a crucial part in Kyle's life. Because of Horton's knowledge with traditional and spiritual ways, Kyle often attend sweat lodges and ceremonies alongside his dad Horton and grandpa Andrew. He was given the name Aapikaiyis, meaning White Quills by his grandpa Andrew during our family's yearly pipe bundle opening.
Kyle attended Westwind School Division through out his whole education and graduated in 2009 from Cardston High School. This was a huge achievement for Kyle and everyone was very proud of him. During his grade school and continuing into his secondary school years, Kyle created many friendships; however, Kyle shared a special bond with Junior Small Face, Tyler Small Face, Julian Tail Feathers, Dylan Standing Alone, and Mason Wolf Child. He later considered Junior and Tyler brothers. The three boys, Kyle, Junior, and Tyler, were inseparable. Junior and Tyler became so important to Kyle's life that the two boys actually lived in the home of Andrienne and Horton for a few years. It was because of Junior and Tyler that Andrienne and Horton were always reassured for Kyle's safety and well-being.
Kyle took a special interest in hockey at the young age of four years old. His entire hockey experience was played through Cardston Minor Hockey. He loved playing the game so much that his skills improved very quickly. Andrienne was always receiving compliments on her son's abilities. The family encouraged Kyle to play so much, so that anyone was willing to bring him to his tournaments in different cities, and even different provinces. The family wants to recognize the late Farrell Bernicky for being an instrumental part of Kyle's hockey development; it was because of Farrell that Kyle was able to gain access to hockey and improve his skills so young.
Kyle was very caring and loving, especially towards the females in his family. He was always willing to go out of his way for them. He never hesitated to help them. He was a man of few words, but when asked, he would always reassure the girls of their worth. Because of his mischievous nature, he would humble them first with teasing remarks before he gave them any type of compliments, mainly towards his sis, Brit. When younger, Kyle and Brit were inseparable. The two caused chaos; they always kept Grandma Donna and Andrienne on their toes. It would be auntie Chantal to the rescue whenever the two got created such havoc. Chantal loved her nephew, therefore she always provided Kyle with support no matter the circumstance.
Kyle shared a very special relationship with his sister Brooke. He was immediately protective of his baby sister. In any type of situation, he made sure she felt comfortable, safe, and secure. Their love for each other was immeasurable. He created an adventurous life for his sister, ensuring that he was the only one tormenting and creating anguish for her. He taught her how to be so protective, that the roles eventually reversed. She was always ensuring his safety and well-being so much, that it was expected of him to tell her, "awe sis.. I'm good."
Kyle was raised in an environment where he learned how to love and care for his boys, Hunter, Jaxx, and Daniels. His boys were his comfort zone; he knew if they were okay, he was okay. They were his centre. He showed Hunter the joys of gaming, which could explain Hunter's deep interest in video gaming. Jaxx takes after Kyle's kind and loving ways; he's always caught hugging and snuggling up to his Grandma Andrienne. Daniels followed Kyle in his adventurous and free spirited nature; we're always watching Andrienne running and redirecting Daniels.
Kyle continued with his loving, caring, and humble ways, that later in his final years, he opened his door to anyone and everyone. Despite the circumstances, Kyle made sure everyone around him was taken care of. He was often found providing for others, and would literally give the shirt off his back if someone needed it. The family wants to acknowledge that Kyle was lost; however, despite the circumstances, Kyle maintained those loving, caring, and humbling characteristics that were gifted to him by everyone around him. Considering Kyle's circumstances battling addiction, the family wants to make it clear we reserve no judgment; we would like to provide support; and we would like to extend our deepest sympathy to others.
He is predeceased by his aunt Nikii W.Q., grandparents Morris Big M W.Q., Harvena W., Andrew and Margret W.F., brother Curtis JR S.F.; great-aunties Wendy MB and Vivian W.Q.; and great-uncles, Leonard W.Q., Steven W.Q., David W.H., and Micheal W.F.
Kyle's extended Family includes White Quills, Wadsworths, Tailfeathers, Wolf Childs, Brave Rocks, Patherbones, Crazybulls, Weasel Moccasins.

A Wake will be held at ST. PAUL'S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 90 - 1 Avenue West, Cardston, AB, on Friday, June 9, 2023 from 6:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.
A Funeral Service will be held at ST. PAUL'S ANGLICAN CHURCH on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. with The Venerable Jacqui Durand officiating.
Following the Funeral Service, Kyle will be laid to rest in the Blood Band Cemetery.
