David John Joseph was born January 16, 1952 in Magrath, Alberta to Annie and Patrick Weasel Head. At birth we all knew that David was going to be someone very special. God’s gift to us. Growing up he was very mischievous, a jokester and a prankster. Jughead received his education at St. Mary’s Residential School from grades 1-8 and Catholic Central High School. French was his favourite course, where he learned the words to the song “Dominique”, which he still sang years later. He returned to St. Mary’s Residential School where he excelled both academically and in sports. Along with his brothers Grizz, Mike and the Warriors, they won numerous basketball and football tournaments where he always received an award, either as MVP or all-star. Jughead was also a globetrotter, in 1972 along with fellow students, he travelled throughout Europe. The highlight of his trip was meeting Pope Paul VI. After graduating from high school, he was employed at St. Paul Residential School/St. Mary’s Residential School as a supervisor. He was a farmer and entrepreneur throughout his life, and most recently started his own small business. Jughead had many friends of all ages, everyone knew him. In his leisure time, he enjoyed spending it at the racetrack and brought life and honour to the friends he made there. He enjoyed gambling and would tell stories about his wins or the big win he almost got. He was a proud father and grandfather and always tried to be helpful and supportive of his kids. He was kind, generous and helpful to others never said an unkind word. He was also very religious, faithful and attended church on a regular basis. Jughead always cared for others and never expected anything in return. Jughead was one of the greatest athletes ever lived, a true cowboy who was one of the only few who made it in all three rodeo events in his time.
