MR. JAMES “JIM” ROY WARNOCK passed away suddenly at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at the age of 78 years.
He is survived by his children; Dale Warnock (Lenora), David and Daniel; Bill Warnock (Coreen), Jim (Brandie) and great-grandchildren; Devon, Austyn, Wade (Jannelle) and Christy (Patrick); Sheila Elliott, Jennifer and Kevin; Connie Smith (Dan) and Brad. He is also survived by one sister, Vera Owsley and one brother, Lorne (Mary) Warnock, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his parents William and Helen Warnock, two infant brothers, Layton Warnock and Mick Owsley.
Born in Lethbridge on March 25, 1932, Dad lived and farmed in the Turin/Iron Springs area and enjoyed every minute of it. Dad sold his farm in 2005 and moved to Lethbridge. Not long after the move his health started to fail and he was diagnosed with Alzheimers, but Dad never gave up. He was proud to be a member of the AA program and on September 10th he would have celebrated his 37th year of sobriety.
As an avid beet grower, Dad served as a director on the Alberta Sugar Beet Growers Marketing Board for several years. The Casino was Dad’s favourite place to go, eating veal cutlets, meeting friends, shaking hands and asking “How the hell are you?” Dad enjoyed outings and will be remembered by his “BIG SMILE”.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB., on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.
A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. A reception will be held after the service. Interment to be held at Huntsville Cemetery, Iron Springs, AB.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jim’s honour to St. Therese Villa, 253 Southgate Boulevard South, Lethbridge, AB., T1K 2S1.
