WANDA SCHOENBRUNN, beloved wife of Hubert Schoenbrunn, passed away in her home in Coaldale after a long and courageous battle with a chronic breathing illness in the early morning of Sunday, April 20, 2008 at the age of 76 years. Wanda (Muttie, Oma, Tante, Schwester) Schoenbrunn is survived by her devoted family; husband Hubert, sons Chris (April) and Andy (Karen), granddaughters Lynn (Darren) and Kristin, grandson Dylan, great granddaughter Gianna, sister Ellie (Gary), brother Walter (Ann), nieces and nephews; Monica, Sandi (Monti), Angie (Rob), David (Katie), Tony (Kim), Arnold, Klaus (Jane), Kurt, Volker (Fredrike, Christiane) and their families. Wanda was predeceased by her parents Natalie (Bessel) and Heinrich Ankermann, brother Ervin, parents in law Ruth and Paul, brothers in law Gerd and Ed, her niece’s daughter Ashley and several special friends. Thank you to Wanda’s many acquaintances, neighbours and caregivers who helped in easing the burden of her illness over the years. Wanda wanted to be remembered as being ‘self made’, which began out of necessity as she grew up in the harshness of World War II. An honest and tireless worker, she easily found employment. From farms and hotels in Deutschland, to greenhouses and cafes in Medicine Hat and Coaldale, Wanda was a model of dedication. Employers and customers alike admired her ability to turn basic fare into superb meals. Friend or foe, she said what was on her mind, and one was usually better off by listening. A prolific writer of cards and letters, Wanda maintained kinships throughout Canada, Europe and the USA. She enjoyed all kinds of music (never once telling us to turn it down), was an avid collector of unique dolls, created beautiful flower gardens, and made intricate handicrafts. Because of Wanda’s great love for flowers, they would be welcomed at her service or planted in your garden to remember her by. A Visitation will be held prior to the Funeral Service from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Friday, April 25, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Peter Lurvey officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
