Mrs. STEFANIA VUCH, beloved wife for 72 years of Redento Vuch of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on August 15, 2011 at the age of 91 years. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her children: Egidio (Betty Lou) Vuch of Lethbridge, Fiorenzo (Debbie) Vuch of Lethbridge, and Nella (Daryl) Ferguson of Lethbridge; her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Suzanne Vuch (Stephen Williams) & Simon and Sarah, Denys (Rhonda) Vuch & Isaac, Julie Krushel & Alyssa, Shalyn, and Kyra, Jennifer (Gabe) McClintock & Aisha and Ella, and Ashley Ferguson; her step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren: Christopher (Charlene) Wyrostok & Caleb and Kieran, and Katherine Wyrostok (Curtis); her sister-in-law, Basilia Favretto; as well as several nieces and nephews in Canada, Peru, the United States, Italy, and Croatia. Stefania was predeceased by her parents, Elena and Giovanni Matelich, four brothers, and two sisters. Stefania was born and raised in Matelici, in Istria Italy. She was married in 1939 but was unable to live with her husband because he was drafted and fought in World War II. Upon his return, she and Redento farmed until 1957. At that time the family moved to Canada and worked as farm laborers in the Taber region. In 1969, they moved to Lethbridge where she was employed by the El Rancho Motor Hotel until her retirement. Stefania has been a long term parishioner of St. Patrick’s where she attended regularly until her declining health prevented her from doing so. She enjoyed tending her flowers (unless they were yellow), cooking, baking and was a very avid reader. Seeing, caring and providing for her family was of the utmost importance to her. In her later years, her health became a major ongoing issue. She struggled to maintain her health but eventually succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease. A private family service will be held to recognize and honour her life.
