It is with great sadness we announce that Eric Vogel, beloved husband and best friend of Linda Vogel, passed away peacefully with loving family by his side on May 5, 2020, at the age of 58.

He is the proud and loving father of four daughters: Brittany, Caylee, Brooklyn, and Shaylin who cherish him deeply. He was the dearly loved son of Johannes and Elisabeth Vogel, brother of Marianna (Greg) Schmidt, Christine (John) Kobza, and Lawrence (Leslie) Vogel. He was an amazing uncle to several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his older brother Mark VogelI

Eric was born on January 13, 1962 in Lethbridge, Alberta. On this same day, his father bought his first farm in Turin, Alberta & was grateful that God gave him a son to help farm.  Eric's love and passion for farming started at a young age, driving at age five to ensure the cow's milk was delivered to feed the pigs. By age eight, he was driving his first tractor and actively involved in farm jobs. Eric's love for trucks, tractors, motorbikes, or anything else with steel and wheels, quickly turned into his passion for farming and personal enjoyment. Eric purchased his first piece of land in 1984 working endless hours farming to perfection to ensure the best crops. He did this with enjoyment, dedication, and commitment to develop and expand his farming operation till the time of his passing. Eric seeded and harvested a variety of crops including sugar beets, hay, barley, flax, wheat, and certified canola seed.

He attended school in Turin until grade six, and Picture Butte High School from grades seven through twelve. He attended post-secondary at Lethbridge College for Agriculture Technology. Throughout the years, Eric made numerous life-long friends which he cherished just like family. He was a positive influence to all he met.

Eric's love for adventure and time with family led to treasured memories. He enjoyed camping to Waterton, Fairmont and Coeur d'Alene, keeping up with his girls on his electric bike, riding his Harley with his daughters beside him on the Hondas, quading in the mountains, road trips, designing and creating with metal, and so much more. Although he could not convince Linda to ride with him on his Harley, he was grateful for her support. He especially loved travelling to Hawaii participating in snorkeling, adventure seeking, hiking, learning the culture, and even renting a Harley to cruise the islands. Another favourite place was time spent in Las Vegas where he frequently visited Welder Up (Vegas Rat Rods), Counts Customs, Pawn Stars, Route 66 road trips, Hoover Dam, and of course many trips to all the Harley shops. He shared all his interests with family and friends and enjoyed teaching his girls many life skills on these adventures.

He had so much pride and joy watching his daughters grow. He seldom missed attending special milestones or their sporting events, always making sure he had his video camera rolling to capture every moment. Eric has a large collection of home videos that he enjoyed watching time and again. Eric was constantly guiding, teaching, mentoring, and empowering his daughters to achieve their very best, to approach life with the highest amount of respect and kindness for others, and to emulate the morals, values, and faith that were important to him. Numerous hours were spent around the table sharing stories, laughter, and celebrating everyone's achievements. In addition to Eric having such immense love, joy, and pride in his family, he also had a big heart for all animals especially his dogs and farm cats. Eric had a strong foundation of Faith in God and shared this through actively living his Faith in everything he did. He was a great man with many amazing qualities. He is humble and always put others before him. He had a strong work ethic and everything he accomplished he put his whole heart and soul into it. He had immense knowledge, skills, strength and courage. He was a great listener and someone you could always count on to give you unconditional love, support, and sound advice.

Although more time with family and friends will always be his greatest wish, Eric's huge impact will forever be cherished in all the hearts and lives he touched. Eric had a life well lived and full of purpose in all he did, a life full of endless love and kindness for his family, a life filled with beautiful special memories that will remain forever in our hearts, and a life that leaves a legacy behind to make this world a better place.

In Eric's last weeks, he informed his wife and daughters that he "lived a great, fulfilled life, enjoyed and experienced all he wanted to do with nothing left undone", and that he is "forever grateful and blessed with such an extraordinary, loving family, and incredible friends", and of course, to "Let the Good Times Roll" - The Cars.

In lieu of flowers, it would have been Eric's wish that he would want all of you to express your love and contribute time to all those that you value.
