VLADIMIR (VLAD) SANTAVY, of Raymond passed away at home, on Monday, October 12, 2009 at the age of 71 years. Vladimir was predeceased by his parents, Martin and Mary Santavy.
He is survived by his sisters, Sidonia (John) Liska of Raymond and Lydia (Earl Musgrave) of Ottawa; his nephew Jason Anderson of Victoria, B.C.; and his niece Alissa Liska of Edmonton.
Vladimir grew up and obtained his education in Raymond and was an excellent farmer. In 1968, he was the highest tonnage per acre sugar beet farmer. Vladimir farmed one mile east of Raymond on an irrigated farm raising wheat, oats, alfalfa and sugar beets until he retired to the town of Raymond where he enjoyed working in his garden and flower beds. He was a self taught electrician, plumber, welder, mechanic as well as a general handyman. In his younger days, Vladimir enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, dancing and travelling.
A Celebration of Vladimir’s Life will be held at the RAYMOND UNITED CHURCH, 19 East and Park Avenue North in Raymond, AB. on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Raymond United Church in care of Sidonia Liska, Box 36, Raymond, AB. T0K 2S0
