Vander Wal, Bess

BOUKJE BESS VANDER WAL (nee DeHaan), beloved wife of Chris Vander Wal passed away in Lethbridge on Tuesday, January 16th, 2018 at the age of 68 years after a short battle with cancer.

Bess was predeceased by her parents Bindert and Tina DeHaan. Also, predeceased by her in-laws Gerrard and Ybeltje Vander Wal, brother in-laws Bert Vander Wal, John Vander Wal, Henry Vander Wal, sisters-in-law Lena Koiter and Ann Vander Wal.

Bess is survived by her spouse of 48 years, Chris Vander Wal, and daughter Sharon (Dave) of Coaldale, sons Christopher (Kim) of Airdrie, and Keith (Darlene) of Calgary. Bess also had 9 grandchildren. Bess also had numerous nieces and nephews.

Bess is also survived by her sisters Evelyn (Pete) of Font Hill ON, Marge (Ralph) of Chesterville, ON, Tess (Ike) of St. Catherines ON, and brother Seymour (Pat) of Martin MI.

Bess spent many years in the accounting field, working most recently for YPM, MNP, and Volutions until retiring in 2016. She could not do enough for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She had a great love for her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ which she passed on to her family.

Family & friends are invited for visitation at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 - Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Sunday, January 21st from 8:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.

A Graveside Service will be held at Royal View Cemetery on Monday, January 22nd at 11:00 A.M. Those wishing to attend please meet at the church before 10:50 A.M.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at the TRINITY UNITED REFORMED CHURCH, 1100 - 40th Avenue North, Lethbridge, at 1:00 P.M., with Reverend John Van Eyk officiating. A time of fellowship & refreshments will follow.
