Bethany was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta on January 8th, 2004. She moved to Coaldale with her family in 2009, where she attended St. Joseph's School and will be recognized as a graduate of CCH, 2022.
She is adored by her parents John and Vanessa Vander Beek, siblings Surrey, Jonathan and Ezra Vander Beek and grandparents: grandmother Gertie Vander Beek and grandfather George Jones. She is reunited with her paternal grandfather, maternal grannie and her dear friend Kennady Clarke.
Bethany was a bright light to everyone who met her, even if it was just for a moment. She was genuinely sweet in every way, always loving, kind and soft to those around her. Her spirit was gentle, her personality bubbly and contagious, her demeanour was confident, and her heart loyal. She loved slushie runs, car karaoke, candy, peaches, glamming up and sushi. Volleyball was her passion. She played for St. Joseph's, Catholic Central, LVC and Panthers. Later, she volunteered as an assistant coach in Picture Butte. She excelled in math and was always willing to help others reach their potential. Bethany was a dedicated worker, starting at Dairy Queen at the age of 14 and then recently as a hostess at Moxies in Lethbridge. She was the one with the beautiful smile greeting you at the door. Bethany faithfully attended Parallel Church, where she would often recite the entire sermon verbatim.
She loved her friends and family deeply; her heart will forever be for her highschool sweetheart Riley McCloud. Bethany and Riley's friendship began in elementary school, they were excitedly planning their graduation and their bright future together. Bethany was warmly welcomed into the McCloud family who loved her as their own.
Bethany's bond with her siblings was a gift to her family and she was often the reason behind the laughter in the home, the playful fights and show tune outbursts. Bethany had the shoulders that we could all lean on, her wisdom and maturity was beyond her years. Above all else, her sincere love for Jesus is what shaped her into who she is and the unhindered love and grace she showed towards others. She would want you to know, she's in His arms.
A Memorial Service will be held at PARALLEL CHURCH, One mile East of Lethbridge on Hwy #3, on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 2:00 P.M.

Be still and know that I am God - Psalm 46:10 In these very sad times for the family and friends of Bethany, it is difficult for us to be still, to be quiet, as we have many questions and we seek answers to fill the empty space left behind by someone so young. Yet, in this passage God commands us to be still, so that we may be able to hear His voice and focus on Him, the only one who can provide us with the comfort we so desperately need. My deepest condolences. Diemer Devries - Quebec
Dear John and Vanessa, My condolences for your loss. May you find solace and comfort during this time of sorrow.
You may feel that you are alone right now, but please know that you are not. God is a very real presence with you right now, and I can be there right next to you too, as quick as a flash, if you ever need anything. 24. May this Bible verse, straight from the mouth of God, bring you peace and comfort today and in the days to come: "God is our refuge and strength. A very present help in trouble." Psalm 46.1
