He was predeceased by his parents, Teuntje and Jan Izak Van Pelt, his sisters, Terry Whilshut and Audrey (Henry) Van Dyke and his former wife, Rhonda Van Pelt.

Art was born in Ridderkirk, Netherlands in 1934. His family immigrated to Alberta in 1953. He met the love of his life, Rhonda Van Rootselaar, at church and they were married in 1960. Together, they raised four children.

Our Dad loved to work. He enjoyed numerous occupations, including farming, construction, real estate and more. Dad traveled to Mexico many times for business and pleasure. He had many hobbies, such as beekeeping, winemaking, gardening, reading and listening to classical music. Dad was a hard worker and was always honest and generous with his time. He was a very well-versed and intelligent man with a great sense of humour and quick wit, and he relished a good political debate.

Art's family would like to thank all the staff at Good Samaritans Park Meadows for their wonderful care.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Come-and-Go Memorial Reception at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.
