ALAN LAWRENCE TUFTS, of Lethbridge, AB passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at the age of 84 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Donna and their three children: Laura (Tim) Deschner, Beverly Tufts, Robert (Gillian) Tufts and grandchildren Jared Deschner, Brianne (Josh) Zwambag and Sarah and Emma Tufts. Alan was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Annie Tufts.
Alan was born at Dodsland, SK and grew up on the family farm south of Plenty, SK. Alan married Donna Peters on October 8, 1960. They raised their family and continued to build their farming operation in the Plenty area. In 1990, Alan and Donna retired to Lethbridge. He loved the warm winters of southern Alberta after years of cold, snowy Saskatchewan winters.
In retirement, Alan and Donna continued to spend summers at the farm where he kept an active interest in the farm operation as well as pursuing his passion of collecting and restoring antique John Deere tractors and pump engines. They traveled many miles across Saskatchewan and Alberta going to auction sales.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 7, 2011 at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alan’s memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Box 2211, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 4K7.
