Trevor (Trev) Bertram Ianson, aged 90 years, passed away in St. Michael’s Health Centre in Lethbridge on Sunday, September 14th, 2008. Born in Edmonton May 04, 1918, Trev moved with his family to Duncan, BC, where he attended high school. He joined the RCAF in 1941, served with distinction for 26 years and ultimately reached the rank of Squadron Leader. During his service he was based in Clinton, Ontario; Lethbridge, Alberta and Rivers, Winnipeg and Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. On leaving the air force, Trev worked with the Alberta Workmen’s Compensation Board until his retirement in 1983. Trevor was active in the community as a member of the Lethbridge Shrine Club, Masonic Lodge No. 4 and the Lethbridge Senior Citizen’s Organization. Until his health failed he volunteered as a driver for Meals On Wheels. He also enjoyed swimming in his later years. Throughout his life, Trev relaxed by fishing the lakes and rivers of Alberta and BC. Trev was predeceased by his wife, Jean (nee Rourke), young son Robert, brother Jack (Molly) and sister Doris (Lloyd). Trevor will be greatly missed by his sons Doug (Vanessa) of Edmonton; Don (Alyson) of Calgary; Bill (Lorie) of Victoria and John (Sharon) of Nelson - and by his seven grandchildren: Vonnie, Christopher, Robin, Adam, Bob, Heather and Geoffrey. Trev is also mourned by his very dear friend Mabel Jordan. The Ianson family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff at St Michael’s Health Centre for their superb care and support. In accordance with Trev’s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to make a donation to the charity of their choice.
