MRS. ANTONIA ‘TONI’ SIFRER, of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Mr. Frank Sifrer, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the age of 85 years after a lengthy illness. Toni is survived by her loving husband Frank of 60 years, children Maria of Kelowna, Frank (Kiomara) of Lethbridge, Margaret (Jeff) of Calgary, Irene of Calgary, Andy (Sherry) of Calgary; grandchildren Tara (Adam) of The Hague, Netherlands; Kristin and Carla of Calgary; Jessica and Jennifer of Lethbridge; great grandchild Kali of Calgary and relatives in Lethbridge, Strathmore, Kranj, Slovenia and Cleveland, Ohio. Toni was born, raised and educated in Ljubljana, Slovenia. In 1945, she went to Austria where she married Frank on July 17, 1948, and together they immigrated to Canada in 1949, settling in Lethbridge where she resided until her passing. Toni was a seamstress and a teacher of sewing and other needlecrafts. Toni was first and foremost a mother and homemaker who took pride in her home and children. Her cooking and baking abilities, especially her potica, were renowned. She also worked in the laundry department at St. Michael’s Hospital and the Lethbridge Regional Hospital for her entire career from 1963 until her retirement in 1998. Toni’s family is sincerely grateful to the staff of Edith Cavell Care Centre for their love and caring support. Prayers will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604-13 Street North, Lethbridge, on Monday, December 1, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Raul Hernandez Celebrant.
