Thompson, Daryl
This man was not a saint, nor was he a paragon of virtue. Daryl was a quiet man who gave freely of his time and energy to his family, his work and his community.
This man was not a saint, nor was he a paragon of virtue. Daryl was a quiet man who gave freely of his time and energy to his family, his work and his community.
He did not seek attention or accolades but just showed up to help. Daryl started his career in farming and this remained his first love. He was a man who loved the prairie sky, a mountain range and an ocean shore. He was happiest when he was with family and friends and never tired of visiting and being with the people he cared about. He enjoyed using his quick and sharp humour but never was he hurtful or unkind. He was a gentleman and it was such fun making him blush.
This man had a gentle and giving soul so supporting and helping others was part of his nature. He was involved with numerous organizations but the dog community benefited most from his efforts. Always, he was there to volunteer, work hard, visit with people and their dogs. Standard Poodles, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Border Collie became members of the household but there would always be room for visitor or two. Grooming dogs became a "Zen" experience for Daryl and his gentle touch meant that the dogs shared the "Zen".
This man was smart and a problem solver. There was always a project going on in the house and his most common expression was, "If we want to do it right..." and right it would be done. Daryl became an artist with stained glass and was able to leave a window in each home he owned as a mark of his skill and artistry.
This man did not wish for a lavish funeral. He would have preferred burgers and beers at the Legion where he was a member for over 30 years. How we wished we could make that happen but Pandemic restrictions prevail. We do invite you to join us to celebrate his kind and gentle soul in the NIKKA YUKO JAPANESE GARDENS on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. We celebrate his life and the gifts he gave us. He taught us all to enjoy those gifts and always to be grateful for this wonderful world. This man was truly loved by his wife, family and friends.
At the Daryl's request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lethbridge Humane Society (https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/id/41192/) or a charity of your choice.

Such a tragic loss - it was a pleasure to know Daryl, and we always enjoyed spending time in his company whether we were Scent Hurdle Racing, doing Agility, or having drinks on the deck. We will miss you Daryl.
Daryl's kind, sweet soul will be missed in this world. Growing up with the Powder Hounds ski club gave me many happy memories. Ripper's jokes on the bus to Panorama being the one that comes forward the most. Daryl loved to nap on many of those trips. Sleep well my friend.
So sorry to hear...may Daryl find his forever happy hour bar in the sky!
