RICHARD "RICK" JAMES THOMAS, the beloved husband of Carol Thomas, of Coaldale, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge on Thursday, December 31st, 2020, at the age of 77 years.

RICHARD "RICK" JAMES THOMAS, the beloved husband of Carol Thomas, of Coaldale, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge on Thursday, December 31st, 2020, at the age of 77 years.

Predeceased by his parents, he is survived by his wife Ida Caroline "Carol", one son, Jason Thomas, daughter, Lisa McLean, and three grandchildren.

When Rick was seven years old, he sang on a radio show, CJOC Live. He and Carol married on January 23rd, 1993, and spent many happy times together.  Besides being a manager of a bank, Rick played in a band, travelled to many destinations including Mount Rushmore, put model ships together, and collected model cars.  He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion (GS Branch #4).  He was a man quick to dance or laugh, despite the long struggle with COPD.  His quiet courage, strength of spirit, creativity and sense of humor will be carried forward by those who knew and loved him.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 - 32 Street South, Lethbridge, on Friday, January 15, 2021, at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Frank Harms officiating.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions, the service is by invitation only.  To watch the service, a link will be seen on this obituary and will become live approximately five minutes before the service.

Carol, Rick was a kind and caring man and I am so glad to be able to call him friend. He will be missed but is now in a better place. My deepest sympathies to you and your family.

You are our brother. You will always be in our hearts. You are Loved. Now you can sing and sing and sing. Love you lots. And Rick, I remember you playing guitar when I was just a young kid. I enjoyed later in life sitting around and playing guitars and singing. What a blessing you are. Love ya. Your brother Dan

Vicky Hubbert, January 14, 2021

Carol & family, Lisa, Jason & families, I am reminded of the wonderful energy, hopefulness and music, Rick brought into all our lives since the 1960s when I first met him. May each of you recall many warm memories that will carry you and heal you during this time of loss. May you find a gentle peace in telling your part of his story.
