GORDON A. "PUDGE" THIELEN, beloved husband of Maryetta Thielen passed away two weeks short of his 85th birthday, and 25 days before their 62nd anniversary, at the Chinook Regional Hospital on June 10th 2016. Pudge was born June 24th 1931 in Lethbridge, Alberta to George Thielen and Kate Allers.
Pudge grew up on the farm and took an interest in welding and mechanical work. He also dug numerous dugouts for fellow farmers. He farmed until 1998 then moved to Milk River, and still did iron work around the community. His horseshoe art is on display around his home.
Some of his favorite past-times were playing baseball, dancing, welding, and playing numerous card games. Family was very important to him. He loved spending time with his Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
He is survived by four sons, David, Neil (Yvette), Milton, William Thielen, and one daughter Nadine (Kevin) Bolz, and numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Gladys Strilchuck, brother, Ray (Ann), sister-in-law Dot Thielen, brother-in-law Floyd Peterson and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by parents George and Kate Thielen, brothers and sister Clifford, Milton, Caroline, Robert, Roy Thielen, Violet Hierath and one Grandson Jonathan Thielen.
Coffee row will never be the same. He was a proud Albertan and asked for your Alberta passport if you were from out of Province. Sad to say his Alberta passport expired and he got a new one to Heaven.
He was a life-long member of the Catholic Church and his faith was very important to him. In his younger years he was proud to be an Altar Boy, and then served with the Knights of Columbus.
A Prayer Service will be held at ST. PETER'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 321 - Main Street, Milk River, on Tuesday, June 14th, 2016 at 7:30 P.M.
A Funeral Mass will be held at the church on Wednesday, June 15th at 10:30 A.M., with Father Benedicto Tugano, Celebrant. Cremation will follow.

We are so sorry to hear of Uncle Gordon's passing.I have many fond memories of our many visits growing up. Your dad always had a great sense of humour.
Uncle Gordon, As a child I remember you as a gentle giant. Looking back, I think of you as a quiet listener, a cribbage champion, a successful farmer and cattle rancher, and an avid rodeo enthusiast. I rarely think of trips to Canada without thoughts of you and your awesome family. Love, Sandy & Danny, DeAnna and Crystal P.S. Tell Austin "Hello," give Mom and Dad a hug for me, and a kiss for Grandma Hilda.
