Ted Berns, beloved husband of Diane Berns, passed away on February 13th 2014, at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge Alberta, at the age of 84. Ted was born in Angerlo, Holland to Philippina and Johannes Berns, and grew up with eight siblings, 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Ted met his love Diane and they wed on August 5th of 1952. Six days later, on August 11th they made the move to Canada and began "living the dream" life. Ted and Diane resided in Swift Current Saskatchewan, where Ted worked as a farmer/rancher for 2.5 years. The couple then continued their journey while expanding their family to Coaldale, Calgary, Okotoks, Claresholm, and Lethbridge; Okotoks being their primary place of residence for 25 years. Ted's main occupation was a ticketed tradesman in stucco/plaster, successfully running his own business. Take a drive down most streets in Okotoks, High River or Claresholm and you're bound to see his handiwork. Despite being the pinnacle image of a hard worker, Ted's passion was being a family man; avidly supporting his children in their sports and activities, was president of the Okotoks Minor Hockey Association, and when he could fit in the spare time he enjoyed hunting, curling and raising livestock (even turning some into pets). Ted was predeceased by his parents , 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He leaves behind to cherish his memory a brother and sister in the Netherlands, his children John & Isabelle, George, Ted & Lorrie, Andy & Valerie, Nancy & Roy, 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, as well as many other close family and friends. A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Monday, February 17, 2014 at 1:00 P.M.
