ANNETJE WILHELMINA TANIS, beloved wife of Eeuwit Tanis, of Picture Butte, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at the age of 79 years.
Anne was born on January 20, 1941 in Holland to Teunes & Cornelia Aleman. She was predeceased by her first husband Andrew Dancek, father Teunes Aleman, and mother Cornelia Aleman.
She is survived by her husband Everett, her four children Douglas (Karry), Marilyn, Rachel, Jodee (Alan), her stepchildren George (Jessica), Bert, Liz, Gwen, and grandchildren Travis, Brittany, Caden, Brandan, Andrea, Kaliah and Cole.
Anne had a big heart and a passion for helping others. She was a caregiver by nature who volunteered her time selflessly. Some of her volunteer experiences included traveling multiple times to Guatemala and Haiti to help build schools and volunteering yearly at the Rehoboth Christian Ministries camps for the disabled. She also spent her time knitting beautiful blankets for Blankets for Canada Society. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, gardening, knitting, and crocheting. She also had a love for swimming and could swim 120 laps well into her 70's. She was well known for the green thumb she had in nurturing all types of plants which won her several awards at the annual Pincher Butte bench fair. Most of all she loved her children and grandchildren. She was very strong in her faith and made sure to send a daily devotional that all will miss.
We would like to thank the Nurses and Staff on ward 4B of the Chinook Regional Hospital for the outstanding dedication and support they gave our mother during her stay.

Dearest Everett, Children, and Grandchildren...... Words never come easy at a time like this and life is filled with unanswerable questions. I had a deep connection to Anne which was solely based on our ability to converse on the wonders of God.. When I heard that she had passed away, I was deeply moved and delightfully assured that she had reached the Promised Land. Anne loved God, and always during our conversations, she longed to see the face of Jesus. Her prayer always for her family, was that of divine protection and the knowledge of Jesus Christ. May you all dear family, find Peace and Strength, in knowing that Anne has reached that Promised Land she so longed for. She will forever remain in our hearts.
Van harte gecondoleerd met dit verlies en we wensen jullie allemaal veel sterkte toe.
Our condolences to Everett and family.
I am truly sorry that heaven has taken Annetje from everyone here on earth, from her family & those that she loved & was loved by. Rachel had spoken of her mum many times, but sadly I had met her only once. She was a happy person that made me feel welcome & treated me like family. That she had traveled to help those less fortunate overseas was very honorable. Shows just how much love she had in her heart, & how she shared it with everyone. I am sure she is looking down from heaven, happy with what she accomplished here on earth, & proud of her family, friends, acquaintances. I am being reminded of the saying in Ghost, with Patrick Swayze (this is paraphrased)....."you take it all with you...ALL the love". She has all your love with her, & is sending it back to you 100-fold. To the family: God bless you all during this time & give you the fortitude you need especially today. You are all loved.

All my condolences to the family. I will miss Anne's pragmatism and directness. I love how she would tell it like it is. She has raised a beautiful family who will miss her spirit. I, for one, will also miss her oatmeal cookies. I have many memories of Anne that I will hold dearly.
Our deepest sympathy to Everett, Jodee, Marilyn, Rachel, Douglas and their families and to all the Tanis family on the passing of Anne. She will be missed. Rest in peace Anne.
