Tanaka, Richard

Send a Tribute

Following a shockingly brief battle with cancer, RICHARD "RICK" ICHIRO TANAKA passed away peacefully in the company of family on Monday, January 18, 2016 at the age of 66 years. Richard lived in Lethbridge for most of his life and worked for the roofing department of Charlton & Hill for 40 years. After retiring, he kept busy with his roof inspection business as well as his many interests: trips to Vegas with the guys, time spent with his coffee crews, golfing, charitable work or following his love of racing and soccer. Though very humble, his generosity touched family, friends and numerous charitable organizations.

Marlene and Family, we extend our deepest sympathy to you all in the loss of your husband, father and grand-father. Thinking of you all at this difficult time. Rick was a great friend and will be sincerely missed! Sorry we cannot be there with you today as we are both under the weather, darn it!!!!

Jerry And Lis Handsaeme, January 25, 2016

We were saddened to learn of Rick's untimely passing. Rest assured he has gone to a better place. I first met Rick in 1990, and spent many hours on roofs and skylights with him, including my own roof, following a disastrous hailstorm.in 1992. Rick's extensive knowledge and confident demeanour quickly put my mind at ease, with prompt repairs that have stood the test of time. Rck made a difference in others' lives, including mine, and he will be greatly missed. May you derive some comfort in knowing others share in your sorrow.. With sympathy and respect, Gary and Donna Meed

It is with extreme sadness that I send this message. I have been friends with Rick since 1988 when I started working at Charlton & Hill. Rick was always a kind, quiet and a very generous man. My deepest sympathy is sent to his wife Marlene and family. To find comfort, please remember the good times with Rick...That's how I will remember him...He was a good man taken too soon. My prayers are with you.

Marlene and family, we are so sorry to hear of Richard's passing. He was such a kind and wise man. We remember fondly the years in Coaldale when he coached the kid's soccer teams and when his home became our son's home at times. Thinking of you all at this sad time.
