Tamagi, Fumiko

FUMIKO "FUMI" TAMAGI, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Coaldale Health Centre on Tuesday, December 15th, 2015 at the age of 93 years.

She is the loving mother of Fay (Sandy) Oakes of Coaldale and a cherished grandmother to Jason (Doreen) Oakes (and children Kailey & Lila) of Lethbridge and Kimi (James) Livingston of Black Falls, Alberta.

She was predeceased by her son Toshi, brothers Tash, Naoto, Masao, Nup, Harpo and Kiyo, sisters Dori, Momoyo and Yaeko and parents Toyoki and Haru.

Born in Vancouver, B.C. on January 13th, 1922 Fumi had her early education in Mission City, B.C., graduating from Mission High School in 1939. She went to the University of Alberta to train as a teacher in 1951. Fumi taught for two years in Picture Butte and accepted a position in Lethbridge in 1954. She continued to upgrade her education by taking summer courses in Calgary and Edmonton when she could. She earned her B Ed. Degree in 1966. She spent over thirty years as a teacher and thoroughly enjoyed her profession.

She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they were a very big part of her life. She enjoyed gardening and spending time at the Seniors Centre. Travelling with her family held many fond memories. She will be sadly missed.

A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery.
