MRS. IRIS STRAND, beloved wife of Lorne Strand of Raymond, AB, passed away at Extendicare in Lethbridge, AB on Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at the age of 70. Iris was born and raised in Foam Lake, SK and in 1956 her and Lorne married and moved to Lethbridge where she resided until her passing. She loved to camp, hunt and fish. She worked at numerous jobs through the years but her favourite one was at Sears where she came home laughing every day and she worked until her disease, Lupus, became unbearable. Besides her husband Lorne, she is survived by her two daughters; Debbie Strand of Calgary and Darlene (Darren) Urban of Raymond. She is also survived by her only granddaughter, Breanne Urban also of Raymond who was the love of her life and the person she most looked forward to seeing. She is also survived by her siblings; Audrey Nelson, Gordon McLean, Myrtle Ingram, Lucy Kolodziejski, Cam McLean, Daryll McLean, as well as numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Iris was a loving wife, mother and nana who devoted her life to her family. She was a caring, giving lady who braved through a long and painful illness. It isn’t wise to count your friends on a sunny day, when the sky is blue and smiles come by the bushel; instead wait for a storm, when the clouds roll in, and the day grows dark, and laughter is scarce…whoever stands by you then, deserves the name “FRIEND”. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Extendicare and her special friend, Carolyn Wiest. A Memorial Service was held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Saturday, May 1, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. If friends so desire, Memorial Tributes may be made to the Lupus Erythematosus Society of Alberta, Box 8154, Station F, Calgary, AB T2J 2P9.
