STANISLAWA ROZYCKI

MRS. STANISLAWA ROZYCKI of Lethbridge, AB, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at the age of 85 years. Stacia was born in Dombrowa, Poland on May 8, 1923. In February 1940, she and her mother were sent to Siberia to a camp due to World War II. From there, they were sent to Teheran and Tanzania, Africa where she attended Agriculture School for three years and finally, onto Cornwall, England where they boarded a ship to Canada. While in Siberia through to Africa, Stacia corresponded for seven years with her future husband, Karol, whom she met through her brother, John, (via mail) while they fought for Polish forces under British command. Upon arriving to Lethbridge in February 26, 1949, she finally met Karol and was married. They lived through some difficult times: living in a small hut with no running water, losing her home to fire after insuring it just one day before, and finding a job but having no English speaking skills. In the early 50’s the family moved to their dream home which was kitty-corner from the Polish hall. Stacia happily resided there for 53 years until poor health forced her to move to a Lodge. Her passions in life were her daughter, son in law, their two sons, Corky dog and gardening. Stacia is lovingly remembered by her only child, Teresa, and her husband, Edmond Rocheleau, and their two sons, Ryan Karol and Bradley James, her caring sister in law Lucy Malec and her family, Zenon (Deanna), Arthur (Sharon), Arlene (Peter) and their children. Stacia was pre-deceased by her parents, Peter and Bronislawa Malec, her brother, John Malec, and infant sister, Jadwiga. In Lieu of flowers please send your donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 210d - 12a Street North, Lethbridge, AB T1H 2J1. A Memorial Service will be held at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Mr. Cliff Bogdan officiating. Interment of Stacia’s ashes to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
