“Aa-Poi-Ya-Kii” (August 4, 1940 - July 5, 2011) Lily was called home to the creator on July 5, 2011. Born on August 4, 1940 at the Blood Indian Hospital. Her parents were the late Frank and Minnie (Wings) Eagle Tail Feathers. As a young child Lily developed a close bond with her uncle Bernard and Suzie Eagle Bear whom raised Lily as their daughter. Lily received her education at the St. Mary’s Indian Residential School on the Blood Reserve. Lily met her soul mate Alfred Standing Alone Sr. in 1960 thus began their journey together as husband and wife. In which both produced three beautiful children Alfred Jr., Dale Marie and Ronnie. In the early years, they moved where work was, eventually building their homestead in Old Agency. Lily, along with Alfred Sr. expanded their cattle and farming operation, thus building the Standing Alone 22 Ranch. Raising their children on the ranch was the major contribution to their western way of life, all excelled in the sport of rodeo. Lily and Alfred Sr. were always eager to help other children to participate in the sports world; many great Bronc riding hands got their early start at the 22 arena. Among Lily’s, many other gifts bestowed to her was her green thumb, canning fruit, native crafts and baking. Lily, never complained about hard work, no need or time too. It was not very unusual to see Lily behind a big old tractor. She pounded posts and stacked bails with ease. Lily, along with Alfred Sr. became bus drivers, eventually bus owners, Lily drove school buses for over 30 years. She obtained many awards for outstanding bus driver and driver of the year. Lily’s greatest joy, were her children and grand children, whom she loved dearly. Not a single day would pass without them knowing the love she had for them all. Having raised her family in a very traditional Blood home, Lily had a great respect for work ethics, which she instilled in us all. She was a gracious host and the ranch was where our family congregated for many meals and celebrations. Lily was especially proud of her two grand-daughters Jayden and Jera’s horsemanship accomplishments. Jayden, recently winning the Jr. Winter Series High Point all around cowgirl champion taking home Barrel Race and pole Bending Buckles.
