It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew 'Ikinanskii' Standing Alone, our most beloved son, brother, uncle and great uncle on Monday, December 29, 2008 at the Cardston Palliative Care Center after a short bout with cancer. Andrew will be missed by his mother, Angeline Standing Alone; brothers and sisters, Alphonse (Marilyn), Nadine (Thomas), Jeffrey (Pricilla), Marion (Rick), Sandra and adopted brother Andrew (Holly) Bull Calf, as well as nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. Andrew spent his formative years in the Old Agency Area, shortly thereafter attended St. Paul Residential School. After several years at St. Paul School he then went to school in Drumheller, AB. Andrew was raised by his paternal grandparents Henry and Louise Standing Alone. At age 18, Andrew reunited with his mother and siblings in their new home in Moses Lake. Andrew will be remembered for his caring and kind disposition to his mother, siblings, nieces and nephews whom he loved very dearly. Taking care of mom Angeline was very important, always making sure her life was a little more easy to bear. Andrew also saw to it that his siblings were well cared for. Andrew worked most of his life as a ranch hand and farm labourer, most of this time in Montana and with Forest Bevans in Cardston, AB. Andrew was a very quiet individual with very few words he never had anything negative to say about anyone, and he never complained about things even right to his death. Andrew established a very strong bond to his nephews and nieces. He never hesitated to help them out and he enjoyed their company. All his little relatives knew where he stashed his change so when in need of a looney or a tooney they knew where to go. Andrew was a father figure to all his siblings. Left to mourn his passing are his aunties, Mae Weasel Fat, Margaret Good Rider, Sophie Tail Feathers, Nita Wells, Ruth Quesnelle, Florence Red Crow, Bernadette Young Pine, Pauline Tallow and Deloris Gadbois; his uncles, Rod (Audrey), Vincent White Quills, Leonard Young Pine, Pete (Betty), Alfred (Lily) and Henry G. Standing Alone. Immediate family gone before him; father, Andy Standing Alone, siblings, Alberta - July 20, 1974; Alvin - July 2, 1988; Alec - April 8, 2008; Kevin - December 10, 2008; and his brother-in-law, Alvin Bad Man - August 2007. Other family; Morris, Arthur, Leo, Eugene, Dennis, Jane and Julia White Quills, Allan and Gilbert Sr. Standing Alone and Ada Fox, his paternal grandparents Henry and Louise Standing Alone, Fanny Young Pine and Paul White Quills.
