It is with great sadness that the families of BRADLEY PETER SMITH announce his passing, on Friday, May 14, 2021 at the age of 54 years.

Brad is survived by his daughters: Miranda, Madeline, and Adryanna Coolen; and granddaughters Charlotte and Eliza, and grandson Lucas. He is also survived by his mother and father Doreen and Peter Smith, sister Donna (Mark) Cameron and brother Scott (Bev) Smith as well as his nieces and nephews.

Brad was born in Calgary, AB, on Halloween 1966. At six weeks old, he was adopted by his loving parents, Doreen and Pete. He grew up in Lethbridge, AB, alongside his siblings, Donna and Scott. Brad loved spending time with his grandma Florence. He spoke often to his children of the fond memories he had with his grandmother. Grandma Florence always made Brad his favorite haystack cookies.

As a child, Brad loved the outdoors and spending time with animals. His summers consisted of camping in the B.C. area with his family. The highlight of these trips was getting to spend time with his uncle Cliff and cousin Chad.

In the early 90's, Brad met Michelle Coolen along with her two year old daughter, Miranda. They quickly fell in love and welcomed two more children into the family, Madeline and Adryanna.

Brad loved to show his girls how to be "strong". He taught them how to ride a snowmobile, fish, hunt, shoot a gun, dirt bike and throw a punch, among many other things. Brad's girls were the light of his life.

Although Brad put up a tough exterior, he was very caring. It didn't matter who it was, he was always willing to lend a hand.

Madeline will always remember sitting with her father at the age of ten in a 7- Eleven parking lot. A homeless man walked up to the vehicle and asked for money. Dad gave him a big handful of change and talked to him for about 20 minutes. It made this man's day. Madeline asked, "Why do you give homeless people money?" He replied, "They are some of the best people you will ever meet, because they have nothing and have experienced real struggles." This is something that has resonated with Madeline throughout her life.

Brad thoroughly enjoyed dirt biking. This was his passion and he excelled at it, winning many trophies from the races he competed in. Brad also had a passion for anything mechanical, he was a real grease monkey. Brad could fix or build anything he put his mind to, he was a very, very intelligent man.

Brad was a very social person. He had many friends and was very charismatic. He loved to talk and would talk your ear off for hours. He was the best story teller. Even when ready to leave, Brad would lean in the car and continue to chat through the window.  Brad was an unforgettable man, father, grandfather, son, brother and a good friend. We will miss you so very much, forever and always. Rest in Peace.

A Private Family Funeral Service will be held at a later date.
