Ken was born in 1938 in Bassano, Alberta. As a young man, he began working for his father at the Alberta Wheat Pool in Taber, cleaning grain cars and the elevator yard, and other daily chores.

He later worked for United Feeds as a truck driver, delivering animal feed to Southern Alberta farmers. He then worked for the Department of Transport at the Lethbridge Airport. He spent his retirement enjoying the company of his family and friends, and for 10 years presided over the Annual Ken Sloane Fishing Derby, where he created lasting memories for the many participants. Ken was known for his love of horses and all things western, especially his extensive CD collection.

Ken was predeceased by his parents, Faye and Alfred Sloane, his brothers Bryce, Terry, Ralph and Melvin, and his in-laws Dave and Louise Goertzen.

He is survived by his loving wife Sharon, daughter Lori Watt, stepsons Tim (Jodie) Neufeld, Trevor Neufeld, and Terry Neufeld, as well as his grandchildren Katie and Nolan Watt, Teagan and Rylen Neufeld, and Trystyn, Taylor, Tawnee and Trayce Neufeld, sisters-in law Verona Sloane, Bev Sloane and Lois Sloane, and his in-laws Gerry and Brenda Goertzen, Bob and Nola Handsaeme, Dan and Leona Goertzen, Doug and Wendy Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews.

We wish to thank the staff of Edith Cavell Care Centre for their care of him over the last 4 years, and to Dr. Malpica and the nursing staff of the Lethbridge Regional Hospital 4B for their kindness and compassion.

As per Ken's wishes, no funeral service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada (www.alzheimer.ca)
