MARIA SIEGL passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at the age of 83 years.
Maria is survived by sons George and Perry (Melissa), grandchildren Sam (Carla), Maddison, Logan and Haley and great-grandson George Theodore, as well as her sister Rosa (Nello) Gioia and brother Nick (Paulette) Alvau.
Maria was predeceased by her loving husband George and parents Paul and Virginia Alvau.
Maria was born in Piane Crati, Calabria, Italy on August 4, 1939, and immigrated to Canada December 1948. She attended Galbraith, St. Basil's and St. Francis Schools. After school, she attended secretary school in Lethbridge. Maria was employed by various departments within the Provincial Government with the longest time at the Dairy Control Board.
Maria met George in 1959 and they married in 1960. Their son George was born in 1961 and son Perry in 1963.
Maria volunteered and sat on many committees and boards throughout her life. Maria was very proud of her Italian heritage and George's German heritage. She thoroughly enjoyed dressing in her German dirndl and participating in various events. Maria was one of the founding members of the Italian Canadian Club in Lethbridge. Maria and George travelled extensively throughout the world.
She was a devout member of St. Basil's Catholic Church and later St. Martha's.
In 1986, after remodeling their home, Maria and George purchased a cabin at Beauvais Lake where many family and friends gathered. The cabin has been passed on to remain in the Siegl name. Maria enjoyed visits to the cabin right up to three weeks ago, spending precious time with her great-grandson.
Maria was loved so very much and will be missed by all.

A Graveside Service will be held at MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY, 1210 Scenic Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 12:30 P.M.
