Date of Service: August 11, 2021

LINDA SHOT BOTH SIDES, beloved wife of Jim Shot Both Sides, of the Blood Reserve, passed away peacefully at the Fort Macleod Health Centre on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at the age of 69 years.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten son,

that whoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have ever lasting life.

Our beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother has begun her journey on August 1, 2021 at the Fort Macleod Medical Centre surrounded by her Children, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and her loving Siblings.

Mom leaves behind her soulmate and the love of her life Jim, children Maria, Malcolm, Denise (Mike), Beulah (Colin), Lurlene (Weston). 16 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren whom she loved beyond measures, and especially her adopted grandchildren. Siblings, Roy (Christine), Lucille, Jordan (Susan), Johnny, Randall and Gail (Randy) who she raised as her own and was Sister/Mom, their relationship was beyond sisters, Mom was a Mother to Gail and a Grandma to her Children and Grandchildren.

Mom was predeceased by her parents John and Annie, her siblings, Yvonne, Malina, Francis & her beloved brother Vernon, Sylvia Low Horn, Peter Big Head and Ruby Eagle Plume. Her beloved Granddaughter and namesake Lynda Simone Eagle Speaker and her nieces and nephews too numerous to mention but who held a special place in her heart.

Mom lived life to fullest with her love for Jesus and the Rosaries which were always the focus of her and Dad's life. Mom and Dad made their Cursillo in the early 80's and it was then that they found their love for singing and praising God and sharing his glory with our community. They then carried on with the Live Ins throughout Southern AB, where they met people of all walks of life and created many friendships along the way. She loved her Rosaries and sharing her faith with all that called upon them especially when they were able to share their music.  She loved her community immensely and always had a smile or a kind word to all that came upon her or called to ask for prayers. She was called upon to teach BTRI participants the value of spirituality, which was an honor for Mom & Dad to be a part of. They also loved to travel especially when it came to their pilgrimages, to name a few locations that they traveled to was to Vancouver British Columbia to visit her friend Lorna and Toronto Ontario with their close friends Bill and Justine Cross Child. Mom also had the privilege to travel overseas to Fatima Portugal, Rome, Spain and Italy where she had the honor of seeing Pope John Paul II which was the highlight of her trip. This is one of her greatest memories that she never tired of telling anyone that showed interest. It was Moms dream to return one day with her Granddaughters. Mom lived a life full of prayer and encouraged all to have a special relationship with our Creator. Mom and Dad made their yearly trips Lac St Ann and always made it a priority to take part in the Blackfoot Mass and always had her grandchildren with her on this day. Her last trip was to Las Vegas Nevada in 2018, she was so amazed with everything that Vegas had to offer she couldn't help with the temptations and her and Dad just had a grand ol' time.  She had a special friendship with Father Pawel of the St Mary's Immaculate Parish, she loved and respected Father because of the love they shared for the Church and the Rosaries. It was then Mom and Dad along with Father Pawel initiated the Triplets into being Alter boys and this carried on until the triplets became adults. Father Pawel knew he could depend on Mom to assist him especially during the holidays.

Mom also loved her crafts and was always creating her own d?cor. She took pride in her home and would always have Dad renovating their home. She loved to decorate her home for the holidays but always made sure that the focus was on their spirituality.

Mom loved all her grandchildren equally and never hesitated to take them in for a visit or to live with her, especially Trez who was her baby and everything was handed to him on a gold platter from her and dad and slept with them until mom kicked him out of her bed.

Mom always encouraged her family to remain close to one another and to keep prayer in our homes. She loved the closeness that prayer brought to our family especially her time of need. She remained faithful right until her last breath.

Mom took pride in her home and always kept Dad busy with her yearly updates to their home. She always made it a comfortable and cozy home where we could all spend time together because she was a firm believer in Family. Everyone loved her yard as they kept it beautifully tended, and they would bring their camping trailers just to camp and be with Mom and Dad. Mom loved to watch WWE every Friday and Monday, you would often see her and Dad sitting in front of the tv and she would really get into it like she's taking part in the fight, she would yell at the tv or at one time or another she would kick her legs and stomp on the floor, even if it's reruns she's watching. She would always ask when the next pay per view is and would often prepare a delicious meal to cook for everyone or she would ask Beulah "what are we having tonight" meaning she was too tired to cook and would say here go order pizza, now the triplets are taking on that role with grandpa. When they announce that WWE is on the road to Calgary she already starts making plans even if it's a month in advance and would save money for that day. The last time she went to a WWE show and it was over, she was walking to the vehicle she started hooting and hollering when she heard others doing that, she yelled so loud we just all got scared and she just laughed and said "hawh I've always wanted to do that".

Mom attended the St Mary's Residential School until she was 16 years old. Later in life, her and Dad moved to Calgary AB so that she can return to school and while there, she attended the Bow Valley College in Calgary AB and received her High School Diploma and continued on to earn her Health Care Aide Certificate. Mom than moved home to the Blood Reserve and worked at the FCSS Department as an HCA where she met the elders in our community and loved her job immensely. It was during this time that she was adopted by the Little Bears.

Mom was deeply involved in the Community as everyone called upon them to join their group, one being the Levern Committee as they had a Pow-wow and Dad was in charge of the making the arbor and Mom would sit in her vehicle and watch what they were doing and of course telling them how to do it. She would make a big meal for all the workers before their day is done and would do it all over again the next day. Mom had the best fry bread and when we have our annual campout, of course mom's fry bread was always talked about and they wouldn't let her join in on the chili and fry bread cook off cause we all know she would win and she knew it too.

Mom and Dad were invited to sit in on the First Nations Elders group which mom loved participating in especially with the other Elders and didn't like to miss any meetings or gatherings, she always was so happy to tell us about what they did and what they are planning and she always looked forward to Pat's phone calls, if she hasn't heard from Pat she would call her and they would talk for what would seem like hours.

Mom loved her family so much, she never had ill feeling towards anyone and when a confrontation starts up she would always say "just pray and everything will be ok" right up to her last days. When mom was first diagnosed, she wasn't scared the only thing she was scared of was leaving dad, her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren behind. She held her family close to her heart and would always call upon Grandma and Grandpa to help her through her sickness and she waited for them to come for her.

Mom loved life and lived life to the fullest, her message to all was to be humble and to love one another unconditionally. She was the best Wife, Mother, and Grandmother anyone can ask for and we all had the chance to thank her for loving us and being the best mother. Her last words to her children and grandchildren were "I LOVE YOU ALL"

The family would like to Thank all the Dr's and Nurses especially Corrine Scout for all that they did for our mother in her time of need, A big whole heartedly Thank you to Fort Macleod Medical Center for their compassion and hospitality they have given the family.
