Thompson, Shirley

June 11, 2024

Shirley was born in Brandon, Manitoba on December 6, 1934. She was a superb cook, and homemaker. She was always extremely proud of being a prairie girl and business woman. Her home always exuded beautiful aromas and was spotless. She was honest and hardworking with a magnificent ability to endure hardships. Her outspokenness was expressed in her refreshing ability to write poetry and she never ceased or abandoned her desire to work as a full-blown writer of the “truth”. Her sense of humor carried her through many rough patches over the years.

Being an entrepreneur was just one more of her multi-talents. Buying, improving and reselling many small businesses and properties that enabled her to support and her children Robert (Sarah) Thompson and Jolie McMullan. She is also survived by her three granddaughters: Milissa McMullan, Jennifer (Justin) Driessen and Allison Thompson, two great-granddaughters, Uma and Olivia, two great-grandsons, Dylan and Connor, one sister and many extended family, as well as her precious cats, Tuffy and Punch. She was predeceased by her beloved mother, Nellie Skoblack, father, Tom Skoblack, Glen Thompson, her sister Marion and many male suitors, all of whom adored her.

At Shirley’s request, no funeral will be held. Cremation was held, with her ashes being scattered in a location of her choice.

Donations may be made in memory of Shirley to PETA (www.peta.org/donate) or any other animal organization of your choice.

“Love her or loathe her, it was impossible to ignore her.”
