MR. STANLEY PATRICK SHAW, beloved husband of Mrs. Dorothy Shaw of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, July 4, 2010 at the age of 93 years.
Besides his loving wife of 66 years he is survived by his children; John (Mary) of Lethbridge, Daniel (Paula) of Coalhurst, Wendy Vogel of Lethbridge, David of Red Deer, Mark (Sharron) of Rolling Hills and Robin (Margaret) of Lethbridge. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Frances and Bernice, 4 sisters-in-law; Garnet (Earl) Shaw, Margaret (Leslie) Shaw, Margaret (Louis) Shaw and Kathleen Berg and numerous nieces and nephews.
Stanley was predeceased by his mother Marion, father Francis, four brothers Earl, Leslie, Louis and Joseph as well as two sisters, Sr. Marie and Patricia.
Stanley was born in Vulcan, February 10, 1917. He married Dorothy Prior on January 11, 1944. They farmed on the family farm in the Vulcan area until moving to Lethbridge in 1957 where they continued to raise their six children. Stanley worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles as a Driver Examiner until retiring in 1978 at which time he finished the addition to the house and continued keeping busy helping his children with needs and wants. He and Mom toured the continent in the motorhome he built from the ground up.
Time was spent in the garden, garage and house, continually changing things to make it better fit the growth of the family. To pass the time, Dad played the piano, violin and mouth organ, wrote stories and continued to create things to make life easier.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He remained a faithful member of the Catholic faith all his life.
A Prayer Service will be held at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 - 13th Street North, Lethbridge, AB on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 7:00 P.M.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 - 13th Street North, Lethbridge, AB on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Raul Hernandez and Reverend Tomy Manjaly, Concelebrants.
Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge, AB.
