Besides her loving husband Paul, Sharon is survived by her children: son Chad (Tana) and his children, Sydney (Riley) and Ty; daughter Lisa (Bill) and her children, Braydn (Kaliah) and Carson; and son Jeremy (Alissa) and their children George (Sarah), Charlie (Delaney) and Anneleise, as well as her brothers-in-law David (Terry), Ron (Nancy) and Jim Griffin.

She was predeceased by her father Andrew, mother Mary, brother Calvin, mother and father-in-law Helen and Jake, and sister-in-law Joyce.

Sharon was born December 21, 1947 in Medicine Hat, AB. She was the eldest of two children born to Mary and Andy Stapleton. As a young girl, the family moved to Milk River, where she completed her schooling and met the love of her life, Paul Wollersheim. Upon graduation, Sharon attended the Lethbridge Community College, earning a diploma in Secretarial Training. Upon completion of the program, Sharon returned to Milk River and started work, but more importantly, started planning her wedding to Paul. They were married February 4, 1967, and they spent 50 years on the family homestead east of Coutts. There they raised three wonderful children and put many miles on their vehicles, following them around to various sporting events.

Sharon also spent countless hours preparing harvest meals, feeding exchange students, student teachers, family and friends. Her unforgettable laugh, her genuine warmth and caring demeanour were some of her most admirable characteristics.

Sharon was an avid reader and theatre enthusiast, both local and beyond, but her greatest source of joy came from her grandchildren. She devoted her later years to spending as much time as possible to each and every one of them. From trips on the train, sleep-overs at the farm and in town, Christmas concerts, hockey, soccer, volleyball and baseball games, and special birthday suppers, she was there.

A Prayer Service will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 301 Main Street NW, Milk River, AB, on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 7:00 P.M. with Father Pawel Andrasz O.M.I. officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Pawel Andrasz O.M.I. celebrating.

Sharon will be laid to rest during a private Family Graveside in the Milk River Cemetery.

We only got to know Sharon over the last number of years after getting involved in Curtain Call. She was such a cheerful person. Always ready to laugh. But very sensible as well. Never hesitated to speak her mind and share her valuable experience. A very good performer when on stage. And many times the first to laugh while out in the audience. We're going to miss her. Our condolences to Paul and his family.

When our Coutts CWL was still functional, we did a lot of catering. Sometimes I was able to work with Sharon in the kichen at the Coutts Civic Center. There I learned a lot of cooking tips from her...my goodness....nothing was ever put on the table without due care and precision. Sharon, you will be truly missed !

Paul and family I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Sharon was such a light in every room she entered — her contagious laugh and genuine smile had a way of making people feel instantly at ease. I hope you find some comfort in the beautiful memories you shared and in knowing how many lives she touched just by being herself. My heartfelt sympathies to all

Sharon is my cousin, one of many many on my mother side. I did not know here especially well but I can remember at family gatherings she always had a smile and laugh that made you feel welcome. When my mother Ruth Sturm (Scherer) her Aunty Ruth, as it goes on the Scherer side, Sharon came to visit and again made a sad and sorrowful situation a bit lighter with her wise words to Mom and the thoughts of her beating Alzheimer her own way. It made me feel so much better with things. I wish only the very best to all who call Sharon family, mother, grandmother wife and friend. Keep the best of her in your heart and she will never be far away.

Michael Sturm, September 19, 2025

I knew Sharon thru the library world, and she was one of my favorite managers to visit with because of her kindness, her engagement, her wisdom (“a job is like a marriage; you need to show up and do the work”). In my last visit with her she inspired me to take an Amtrak trip and stop in at Piapot SK for wings. I will miss her. My sympathies to her family and community.

Sharon's infectious laugh would echo down the hallways of Coutts school. I will never forget how she welcomed me as a baby teacher into the tiny Coutts School with such a big heart!
