DEREK EARL SCHUMACHER, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the age of 43 years.

DEREK EARL SCHUMACHER of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the age of 43 years.

Derek was born in Havre, Montana, on October 25, 1978. He attended elementary school in Red Deer and middle school in Lethbridge. One year into high school, he moved to Orlando, Florida, and finished his schooling at Lake Brantley High, graduating in 1996. He was a starter on the Lake Brantley baseball team, as well as playing for the Chet Lemons elite travelling ball team that covered Florida, Alabama and Georgia. Derek then attended Limestone College in South Carolina on a full baseball scholarship, playing one year before transferring along with his coach to Texas A&M, Kingsville. He played there for three years until a severe injury to his left shoulder ended his baseball career.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 2005 and returned to Lethbridge. He then attended the University of Lethbridge, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. After university, Derek moved to Los Angeles, California. There he produced television commercials, stand-up comedy shows and worked at The Comedy Store. He was able to travel to various countries, performed with the United States Military via United Service Organization Tours. His last line of work was as the Assistant Director of Admissions with Reeves College.

Derek was a fan of all sports, minor and professional. He was able to attend many professional stadiums and ballparks in Florida, Georgia, New England, Dallas and Houston. He was also very fond of pets, large and small, especially the three Shih-Tzu's he grew up with.

Derek is survived by his dad, John, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as his many friends both here in Lethbridge and all over the United States.

He was predeceased by his mother, Donna, in 2010.

Derek will be missed by all who knew him.

Upon Derek's wishes, he will be privately remembered by his family and friends.
