I remember aunt Elra quite fondly. My sister Cindy and I would travel to Alberta from Chicago to spend time with the family in Canada during the summer when I was young. She always was sweet to us, and I remember her as being full of life and very fun loving, very much like my mom ( her sister) Joyce. One summer Aunt Elra and Uncle Tony came to Chicago to visit my family. I can still picture them walking down Michigan Ave - uncle Tony in his best dress western suit and cowboy boots and hat (all black) and aunt Elra all dolled up to match. What a strikingly handsom couple they made! They sure caught the eye of the fancy Chicago folks that were out on Michigan Avenue that day. I was able to visit aunt Elra one last time, just a few years ago. It was a good visit and we had a meaningful conversation about her and the family. She missed Tony, but seemed happy. She and my mom were very close, and we talked about how things were for them when they were children. It was hard for them after grandpa Hall passed away, and the family struggled until Grandma Swenson married uncle Nelpher. I know aunt Elra carried a burden from those years, and yet she was able have joy in her life. She was blessed with a long life. Passages are hard for those left behind, but I feel I can take comfort in the thought that she now is with uncle Tony and her brothers and sisters, as well as with her parents. I can hear the angels singing, and they're singing for you and for me and for aunt Elra ....
We were so saddened to her of Elra's passing. She was always so kind to us and our children looked forward to our annual holloween stop when they were at the farm. Our sincerest condolences.
