On January 6, 2023, William Schmold passed away into the arms of God, to reunited with his wife and son. He was 92 years old when he passed away peacefully at the Sunny South Lodge in Coaldale, Alberta.
William was born in Josefstal, Ukraine, where he and his family resided till World War II. Due to circumstances of World War II, his family, along with many other families, fled their homeland and eventually immigrated to Canada, where they ended up in Coaldale. William met his soulmate, Adeline, here and they were married and started their family together.
William was always a hard worker and had multiple construction related jobs during his lifespan. He always provided for his family the best he could.
In his spare time, he loved to go fishing, play pool and tend to his garden. He was also an active member of the Coaldale Seniors Centre and enjoyed playing crib and the camaraderie it provided for him. He competed in numerous crib tournaments in surrounding towns and loved the competition it provided.
William was predeceased by his loving wife, Adeline, son, William, parents, Wilhelm and Anna, along with his brothers John, Ben and Jacob and sister, Matilda.
He is survived by his brother Fred, two sons, Gerhard (Irene) and Eric (Tedi); five grandchildren: Carly (Matt), Jaclyn, Emily (Kevin), Tyson (Pride) and Hayley. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren: Miles, Winnie, Lydia, William, Maverick, Bentley and Kassian.
He will be greatly missed by all.
A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 - 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 1:30 P.M. with Patrick Siedlecki officiating.
Willy will be laid to rest prior to the Funeral Service in the Coaldale Community Cemetery.
