In the early 1940’s she moved from Redvers, Saskatchewan to Vancouver, BC where she contributed to the wartime effort by working for the Boeing Aircraft Company. In 1946, Marion met and married the love of her life, Doug Sanderson. They celebrated the birth of three wonderful children, Ron, Ruth and Ken and their loving marriage lasted for over 64 years. Marion is remembered as a loving mother and wife who delighted in caring for her family and keeping them close. Her fun loving nature was demonstrated on family game nights and many other legendary festive occasions. During Marion’s life she was devoted to her church and she actively participated in church events. Marion was very proud to complete her undergraduate studies in community services. She received her certificate in Social Services from Douglas College in 1977. She loved to participate and organize social events. She lived her life as a devoted born again Christian and she was constantly reaching out to others to share her faith. She did this through such activities as Seniors Bible Study and children’s Summer Bible Clubs. Marion also had special memories of several trips to Arizona and Maui with Doug. In the latter part of Marion’s life she and Doug moved to the Okanagan. Marion enjoyed the long warm summer days and nights with barbecues, cold lemonade and being surrounded by family. She adopted an orphaned cat from the local SPCA (TeeDees), who became a very important part of her life. TeeDees responded to Marion’s kindness with continual purring and provided daily comfort. Marion always maintained a sense of humor and generosity to others. She always saw the positive side of life. This is how the family will remember Marion.
