It is with very sad hearts that we announce Zena's passing at 89 years of age. Zena was born in Kincardinshire, Scotland and moved to Lethbridge with her family in 1921. She met her beloved Ladell Julius 'Dude' Sanders, whom she thought was 'so handsome', and they were married in 1948. Zena and Dude spent their lives together in Lethbridge, though Zena was always a Scot at heart. She was nurturing, compassionate and devoted to her family. In later years, Zena took care of her mother, Ann, until her passing and with great sacrifice and love cared for Dude after his health began to deteriorate. She bowled for many years as a 'Golden Girl', adored the music of John McDermott and treasured nothing more than playing games and spending time with her family. She loved Dude most of all and longed to be with him after his passing and although we will all miss her and will keep her close in our hearts, we are thankful that she can be with him again. Zena was predeceased by her parents Ann and David Gove; her husband Dude; her youngest daughter Connie Nori (Rick); her sisters Isabelle Sawchuck, Margaret Cooke, Kay Stabler (Harold), Ellen "Sandy" Pitchko and her brothers David Gove (Lorna) and Jack Gove (Sara). She is survived by her children Diane Sereda (Greg), Chestermere, Tom Sanders (Karen), Lethbridge, Gary Sanders, Lethbridge, Brian Sanders, Edmonton; her brother Jim Gove, Vancouver; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her family will host a celebration of Zena's life at the LETHBRIDGE SENIOR CITIZENS ORGANIZATION, 500 - 11th Street South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, February 28, 2009 from 1:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Everyone is welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation at 1-877-715-7700 or www.kidneyfoundation.ab.ca .
