I neer met Mr. Sameshima perosnally, but he recently answered some of my questions about writing haiku during WWII, in the internemnt camp. It was very generous of him to help me with my research. I am sorry I never did make the trip to Alberta to interview him. My sympathy goes out to all the Sameshima family. You are so lucky to have a granfather that lived so long.

Growingup in the area I will always fondly remember Mr Sam and his shop. The kind way he always greeted you when you went in , and how he was always able to fix a young boys shoes no matter how bad they were tore up. While it has been 35 years since I left the area I will never forget Mr Sam . Deepest Condolences from Texas

Mr. Sameshima will be missed by many. The obituary couldn't of described him better. A very gentle kind person. My deepest sympathy and all my love from Victoria.

I remember your father well. He was a quiet man of a gentle nature who was also a great neighbor. I can still see him working behind his machines fixing our families shoes. When I was growing up in Coaldale, Sams Shoe Repair was a permanent fixture. Thank you Sam for all you gave to your community and for the great service that you provided its residents .
