SALLY CROSS CHILD 'Tsaapinaakii'

SALLY WENDY MARY CROSS CHILD, eldest daughter of Theresa Cross Child and the late Pat Cross Child Sr. of the Blood Reserve, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 11, 2008 at the age of 41 years. Sally was born on March 30, 1967 at the Blood Indian Hospital, the eldest of five siblings; Patrick Jr. (Tanya), Wes (Michelle), Sharon (Craig) Bear Chief and Jay (Aiyisha). Sally enjoyed life to the fullest and touched everyone with her special spirit and quick sense of humour. Sally attended the Dorothy Gooder School in her early years (1974-81) and enjoyed attending pow-wows, participating proudly in the traditional dancing competitions. Sally was very outgoing and loving. She loved Harry Potter, beading, colouring, doing cross word puzzles and all sorts of crafts. In her later years she moved to the Kainai Continuing Care Centre and it became her special home. She loved to tease the other residents and loved the caring workers that attended to her every need. She always showed love and concern for all the residents and was very compassionate when they were sick or feeling down. Sally was an extraordinary little girl that touched all our lives in a special way. She had a special relationship with our blessed Virgin Mother, Mary and often called upon her when she was sick or scared. It comforts the family to know that she is now in the hands of our Heavenly Mother. Sally will be deeply missed by her mother and siblings, nieces, nephews and her special cousins Christie (Brice) Wells and Ethel Low Horn and her special nephews and niece Dwight (Mandy), Mason and Sheree, who she helped raise. Sally is survived by her uncles; Dale (Sylvia), Robert (Jenny), James and Edward Low Horn, Dominic (Kathy), William (Justine), Fred (Alice), Ted and Ross Cross Child, aunties; Roseline (Thomas) Holy Singer, Rose Marie (Henry) Bird, Teresa (Clement) Bear Chief, Nadine (Ken) Weiss, Adeline (Harvey) Sweet Grass, Beatrice Cross Child and Nora (Jim) Boudreau. Sally was predeceased by her dad Pat Sr. (2004), grandparents Jim and Mary Rose Low Horn, Agnes Standing Alone, John Red Crane and William ‘Billy’ Cross Child, uncles Patrick, Adrian and Paul Low Horn and Ray Cross Child, aunties Elizabeth Wadsworth, Virginia Low Horn and Madeline Eagle Bear, nephew, baby Luke Cross Child and cousin Edward Holy Singer. A Wake Service will be held at CHIEF MOUNTAIN FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moses Lake on Sunday, May 18, 2008 from 7:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be held at the ST. MARY’S IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, Blood Reserve on Monday, May 19, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Pawel Andrasz Celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
