Our loving mother and grandmother MRS. RUTH (Misamipi’kssaakii) WINGS was peacefully called home by our Creator surrounded by her loving family at her side at the Cardston Hospital on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at the age of 77 years. Ruth was born on February 23, 1930 at the Blood Indian Hospital to the late Maggie and Emil Wings Sr. Ruth and was the 4th youngest of her siblings; Minnie, Emil, Ada, Rosie and Rosemarie. Ruth left the residential school at an early age and there after started working at various jobs to support herself. In 1949 she met Pat Crop Eared Wolf and they married in 1950. Together they raised 10 children: Jackie (Mike), Patsy (Roy), Patrick, Judy (Bill), Derrick, Belva (Bill), Carol, the late Aloysius, Cammie (Joe) and Melody (Pat). After her late husband’s (Pat) passing, Ruth was employed at the St. Mary’s Residential School for 20 years. Ruth was an independent person who realized the importance of working to support her children and provided them with a home. When Ruth wasn’t working she was known as a homemaker where she enjoyed cooking especially her Christmas dinners for family and friends. She liked to sew and do gardening and especially enjoyed her favorite pastime, bingo. After Ruth retired she had the opportunity to travel to various parts of the world to such places as Lourdes, Paris, England, Costa Rica, Rome, Hawaii, Spain and one trip that she spoke about frequently was the trip to Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, where she was inspired with the great faith the Mexicans have. Ruth was a devoted Catholic and believed in the power of prayer. She enjoyed going to powwows and was known for always camping at the annual Kainai Indian Days and inviting her children, grandchildren, great grand children and family to join her in the festive event. Even though Ruth was a devoted Catholic she also had respect for the Native Spiritual way of life and participated annually in her late nephew, Morris Crow’s Sundance as well as the late Buster Yellow Kidney’s Sundance. Ruth is survived by her children, 24 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, sister Rosemarie Tail Feathers, brothers Emil (Lorie) Wings and Cordell (Rosaline) Weasel Moccasin, sisters-in-law Rosie Red Crow, Flora Creighton and Louise Oka as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Pat Crop Eared Wolf, son Aloysius, siblings; Minnie, Ada and Rosie, parents Emil and Maggie, special friend Wallace Many Fingers, brothers-in-law; Alan Tail Feathers, Dan Weasel Moccasin, Joe Crop Eared Wolf, Reggie Crop Eared Wolf and Mike Oka, nephew Bob Eagle Tail Feathers, niece Adaline Many Chief, cousins; Albert Twigg, E ugene Twigg, Katherine Young Pine and Margaret Hind Bull and sisters-in-law Irene Wings and Agnes Shade. She will be missed for her kind, gentle ways and will be remembered for always lending a helping hand to her family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Cardston Auxiliary Hospital and Kainai Continuing Care Centre for the good care she received. WELSH 1921 - 2007 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of ROBERT G. WELSH, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather on August 21, 2007. Bob, or Gramps as he liked to call himself, was born in Pincher Creek on November 14, 1921 and the Welsh family later moved to the Newlands area north of Lethbridge. After returning in 1945 from four years of active duty with the Royal Canadian Navy, Bob worked in a hardware store until he was able to buy his own farm in the Park Lake area. In 1960 Bob and his family moved to Fort Macleod and established Blackacre Farms, which he operated until his retirement, although Bob never really retired. Except for the years when Bob and MaryBelle wintered in Desert Hot Springs with family and friends, he was at the farm virtually every day until his passing. Bob is survived by his beloved wife MaryBelle, his children; Barbara (Trevor) Norlin, Barry (Cindy) Welsh, Dan Justik, Joanne (Marty) Michaud and Bonnie (Joe) Ackerman, 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and his siblings; Barney (Julie), John (Margaret), Larry (Sharlene) and Gerry (Floyd) Domier. Gramps left us a strong sense of family, a dedicated work ethic, a love for home and the importance of a sense of humour. He placed a value on being dependable and never failed to lend a helping hand. We will miss him dearly. A Memorial Service will be held at TRINITY UNITED CHURCH, 220 - 20th Street, Fort Macleod on Monday, August 27, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Peter Walker and Reverend Eras Van Zyl officiating. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, a donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317-10th Street South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 2M7.
