The family of RUTH HELEN COLLIER sadly announces her passing on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Chinook Regional Hospital at the age of 73 years. Ruth was born to Thomas and Sybil Goldthorpe, on July 24, 1935, in Taber, AB. She grew up and did her schooling in Taber. She met Wells Collier and they were married on August 1, 1952. They raised a large family of nine kids and also raised two grandchildren as their own. They spent their first year of marriage in Calgary, and then moving on to Lethbridge, Hardieville, Raymond, Stirling and Taber. She enjoyed doing crafts, collecting dolls and collecting all of her miniature ornaments. Her door was always open and the tea was always on. She is survived by her mother, Sybil Goldthorpe, her children, Raymond, Ricky (Debbie), Randy, Gary (Deb), Michelle (Jim), Greg (Karen), Shanon (Keli), Charlene (Shaun), Troy (Tara), Robbie, Chantel (Randy); 21 grandchildren and one on the way, 24 great grandchildren and one on the way. Her sister, Beth Martens (George-deceased), brothers, Dave (Joyce) and Alan (Syd). She was predeceased by her father Thomas Goldthorpe, her husband, Wells Collier, her granddaughter Sharla Collier, son in-law, Dave Duncan, sister, Ruby Madsen (Leo), brother, Glen Goldthorpe (Rana). Mom lived her life loving her family. She will be dearly missed. Mom we love you!! A Funeral Service will be held at the CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS. 2223 - 6 Avenue A. North, Lethbridge, AB, on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 1:00 P.M., with Bishop Richard Martinell officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
