ASBJORN (OZZIE) RONNINGEN, loving husband of Helga, passed away at the Edith Cavell Care Centre on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the age of 78 years.
He was a beloved husband, step-father and papa who will be missed by all. Love you papa.
Ozzie was predeceased by his parents, wife Diane (Renning), brothers Magnar, Oddvar and nephew Arne.
He was born on September 6, 1935 in Ringebu, Norway and was the last of three brothers.
Ozzie was born on September 6, 1935 in Ringebu, Norway and was the youngest of 3 brothers. Ozzie went to carpentry school for 2 years then graduated as a heavy duty mechanic in 1955. He worked for Norwegian Caribbean freightliners then cruise liners for 16 years. Ozzie left Norway, built a log house in Georgia, U.S.A., moved to Canada in 1977 and worked as a motor mechanic. He loved working on small engines. His wife Diane passed away in 1986. Ozzie met Helga in 1994 and they were married on February 14, 1995. He was a handy man, loved woodworking, fishing and camping. Ozzie and Helga spent a lot of time traveling, enjoying trips to Alaska in 2007 and Nova Scotia in 2009.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Therese Villa and Edith Cavell Care Centre for their kind and loving care that Ozzie received for the last two years as he struggled with dementia.
