Ron was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by his wife, Norma and their children Mark (Georgia) Mullin of Edmonton and Holly (Scott) Melvin of Lethbridge, and his cherished grandchildren Reid, Evan and Ayla Mullin of Edmonton and Isla and Beckett Melvin of Lethbridge, as well as his brother and sister-in-law Bruce and Lois Strinholm, of Calgary, and his sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Gerald Porter of Kinistino, Saskatchewan and many nieces and nephews.

Ron was born March 18, 1947 in Lafleche, Saskatchewan. He grew up in the Glentworth district and attended school in Glentworth. After graduating high school, he went on to attend Mount Royal College in Calgary where his broadcasting career was born. His work took him to many communities across Saskatchewan, before he eventually settled in Lethbridge where he developed a deep love for Southern Alberta.

Ron was predeceased by his parents Gerald and Winnie Mullin, his sister Sharon Pope Landry, brother-in-law Art Landry, mother and father-in-law Hildred and Wilfred Strinholm, sister-in-law Jeri Klassen, and brother-in-law Les Klassen.

Ron loved many things…mostly old cars, fishing and camping. One of his greatest delights was taking his mother-in-law camping and fishing with him and Mark and listening to the two of them argue the day away. He also loved dogs! In his final weeks all he wanted to do was go home…and pick up a new puppy on the way.

Special thanks are given to Dr. Plotnyk, Dr. Saleh, and all the staff on 3B at the Chinook Regional Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. with Patrick Siedlecki officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your local Humane Society or the SPCA (albertaspca.org).

Mooner - you were the best! I still credit all your lines I still use - my buddy Moon always said...... I learned so much from you in our radio days and laughed - a lot. Condolences to Norma, Mark & Holly & families. Wish I could have been there today.

I was sad when I heard of Ron's passing. Moon and I were great friends, especially in the early 80's. We worked together at CKOM in Saskatoon. Moon made a huge contribution to my life, I'm very grateful that our paths crossed. My thoughts and prayers are with Norma and his family today.

I hope the family will accept my sympathy. I’m sad to hear of Ron’s passing. A part of me is excited to hear of folks I remember from Glentworth school days. I was several years younger but both Ron and Sharron are clear in my memory- obviously touched the lives of fellow students. My sister Darriel would have been somewhat closer in age. Know that you are thought of.

😩 I’m just gutted to hear this sad news. I worked with Mooner in radio many years ago and remained friends with him for decades. He will be missed.

My sincere condolences to Norma and all of Ron's family. "Mooner" was an incredible broadcaster and great friend. So naturally funny and warm no wonder he was loved by every audience he served. RIP Moon you left a big footprint on radio and with guys like me that we're lucky enough to work with you.
