HYRONIMUS "RON" WAGNER

1948-2014

It is with great sadness that the family of Hyronimus (Ron) Wagner announce his passing at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, December 4th, 2014 at the age of 66.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Jeanne (Comstock), daughter Lindsay (Frank) Spadavecchia, son James, granddaughter Emilia Spadavecchia, parents-in-law Bob and Caroline Comstock, his siblings Loni (George) Neufeld, Sam Wagner, Blair (Mary) Wagner, and Otto (Ursula)Wagner, siblings-in-law Olga Wagner, Linda Comstock, Bruce (Patty) Comstock, Nancy (Bob) Hadwell, Brian (Adele) Comstock, and Blair (Sharon) Comstock, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his parents Martin and Katharina Wagner, older brother Anton "Tony" Wagner, sister-in-law Lydia Wagner, niece Theresa Olson and her son Wyatt Olson.

Ron was born on February 14th, 1948 in Theisau, Germany and came to Canada in 1953. After growing up and graduating high school in Taber, Ron went onto obtain his Education degree from the University of Calgary.

Ron began his 41 year career as a junior high math teacher in Lethbridge at St. Basil's School. He moved on to St. Mary's School where he met the love of his life Jeanne, before finishing his career with his longest service at St. Francis Junior High School. Always the kind, compassionate gentleman with a tremendous sense of humour, Ron made a lasting impact on students and colleagues alike.

Ron's passions were family, golfing, fishing, computers, cars, and watching sporting events. Since retiring, he took great pleasure in having more time for yard work, car maintenance, and photography.

Ron's family was his greatest joy. He lit up the room at family gatherings with his terrible jokes and hilarious antics. In the earlier years, annual road trips with Jeanne, Lindsay, and James took them all over North America, providing car loads of treasured memories. In 2013, Ron became a grandfather for the first time and delighted in spending time with Emilia, getting up in the early morning hours to feed her a bottle while watching soccer together.

A humble and generous person with his time and talents, Ron was always there to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbours. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Special thanks to Dr. Stan Benke, Dr. Michael Amatto, and all of the staff at the Chinook Regional Hospital and Westside Campbell Clinic for the exceptional care and compassion given to Ron and his family.

A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 6:00 P.M. with Father Salvador Ahumada officiating.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. MARTHA'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 355 Columbia Blvd. West, Lethbridge, AB on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Salvador Ahumada, Celebrant. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Mr. Wagner was one of my teachers in 2003, and he was a great man! I am saddened by the news! May peace be with you all at this difficult time!

Verna Mabin, December 10, 2014

I am saddened to see such a great man's life end so soon. Mr. Wagner was my FAVORITE junior high teachers at Saint Francis from 1997-1999 for the subject I struggled with the most. He was so patient, kind and so intelligent. He took the time with each of his students to not just explain but understand the principles of mathematics. He made it fun and I still use the skills he taught me then to this day. I'm crying as I write this, a sign of the amazing, long lasting effects a great teacher can have on a child It takes someone very patient to teacher a bunch of a.d.d, know it all teenagers and he did it and never gave up. I grew up traveling a lot with family and would share stories of my travels with him. I remember he also said he loved to go on road trips with his family and that it was a great way to learn about life. I laughed to see this in his obituary because I remember our conversations about this. I also remember him talking often of his family. Even though he spent many hours at school, you were in his thoughts each day. He loved to pull jokes on the class and have fun while teaching. He rarely didn't have a smile on his face unless he was disappointed in you. He strived to bring the very best out of each student. It speaks volumes that my favorite teacher was for the subject I found the hardest. Im so sorry for your loss but wanted you to know the amazing effects he had on just one of thousands of students he had. Infact I saw the post of his obituary on another students Facebook page. Godbless.

Those we love remain with us for love itself lives on, and cherished memories never fade because a loved one's gone. Those we love can never be more that a thought apart. For as long there is a memory, they'll live on in our hearts. - RIP Uncle Ron, until we meet again.
